Heh!  It was a domestic abuse trial.  The defense attorney asked us
all if any of us had known of or been involved in a domestic abuse
case in the past, and I raised my hand.  Our next door neighbors when
I lived in Champaign, IL, were the "perfect" couple - until they got
married (and she had already come out of an abusive marriage - abusive
to the point where she was no longer able to have children).  Her new
hubby put her in the hospital one evening.  He was eventually
convicted of spouse abuse, and I commented to the defense attorney
that he "got what he deserved."  Piss off number 1. (guess she figured
that I had never heard of "presumed innocent until proven guilty.")

Piss off number 2 - the prosecuting attorney pissed me off first when
she asked where we worked.  I replied Qwest, and she replied, "Oh, I'm
sorry."  (it was a poor attempt at humor, since Qwest at the time was
still struggling mightily to overcome Joe Nacchio's "alleged"
shenanigans).  But then she  asked each of us, "on a scale of one to
ten, how we would rate the Aurora Police.  I said "four", and when
asked why I told her - our area in Aurora is like the "forgotten land"
as far as Aurora and the police are concerned - unless there is a
shooting or something, they are never around, and even then, it takes
them over an hour to finally make it to the neighborhood.  Piss off
number 2(guess she figured I couldn't appreciate good police work if I
saw it) - and "bye, bye..."
