Hi Amy,
I don't think it was a comparison of the original offences, but more a 
comparison of the Hoo-Rah that resulted from them.  The media is very 
good at taking what should be a minor incident, and blowing it way out 
of proportion...

As for no national dialog on race, I assume the speaker is younger than 
25, and so, nothing that happened before they were born has any 
relevance... 8-)
