I don't know, I read this thread and I hear a lot of hate at mongoose.
I know they have done wrong by JMS and this is a very Pro-JMS group.
Hell I agree with most of what JMS had to say about Mongoose. But I
guess I like the idea of new Babylon 5 materials. Weather than be The
Lost Tales, a Graphic Novel, or Real novels. I want B5 to be remember
10, 20, 50 years down the road and while it will be by us the hard core
fans. It will fade into the background unless it keeps add unto itself.
That said it most likely will never get better than those five years
where we were all stuck in that tin can, but there is so much more left
untold. The people at mongoose want to tell stories in the B5 universe;
I have no problem with that. Call in fan fiction if you will but that
really seems to apply to any novel basest on a TV show or movie.

As it is WB likes Mongoose because Mongoose makes them money. Do I
think Mongoose could have handled JMS better? Yes, Do I think JMS could
have handled them better? Yes. But Mongoose is going forward and I
think there even trying to get the US rights to Babylon 5 for Del Rey.
There will be books some will be bad some will be good and most will be
forgettable one way or another. Much like the original Del books

And Even if they had been given outlines from JMS it still would mean
the books would be canon. Remember after Del books 1-6 JMS decided to
get more personally involved. To that end he wrote outlines for Books
#7, #8, #9. While 7 & 9 are considered more or less 100% canon Book 8
is not considered Canon. The author just didn't get the characters
right. It happens

As for Claudia Christian if JMS wants to use her he will. When people
say you can't do something is normally when JMS wants to do it the
most. I don't know how they are getting on these days, but if he has a
lost tales in mind for her, JMS will do it and to hell with mongoose.
You will remember JMS even 'forgave' General Hague after he Ditched B5
for Deep Space Nine.

My hope is that Mongoose creates some positive chat about B5 so that we
can once again have a full TV series set in the B5 universe. Maybe
that's a little high to shot but it would make me happy and we should
always shot for those things that make us happy.
