Well that's good I was trying to explain the phenomenon.  There is
nothing directly personal about it however unless you are the Pope or
an Ayatollah...

To some religious people talking about religious ideas offends them
personally while some of us can't figure out why they get so tetchy
about it.  I understand faith but I don't understand religion.  I just
don't get it.  The provenance from deity to worshipper is pretty dodgy
at best even if you accept it was handed down to these guys

All I was saying is it colors a person's world view.  We all have our
biases both irrational and rational.

FWIW organized religion does as good a job ignoring history as the
rest of us.  Look at the speech the pope just made and the trouble it
is getting him into.
