I don't buy the Iraq analogy at all.

Let's see... invaders that have been in seclusion for close to a
generation suddenly reappear to nuke the hell out of everything in
sight in an attempt to wipe out the population, then continue to chase
down those who've escaped with the sole intention of destroying them as
well, and when the escapees finally find somewhere to stop and settle
in safety, the pursuers, instead of wiping them out as has been the MO
thus far, instead want to coddle them and attempt to make their lives
better (caveat: I'm drawing this last bit from posts here so far; I
haven't seen the new season yet).

Okay... the US/UN/whoever have hardly come out of hiding to hammer on
Iraq... yeah, there was the whole "shock and awe" thing but they were
hardly attempting to destroy the entire population, and to properly
extend the analogy with the multiple worlds of the Twelve Colonies,
they would have had to essentially drop nukes on all of Asia...

Like Rob said before, despite some FAINT parallels between the CURRENT
situation in Iraq and the start of the third season, the whole analogy
is much more general than just Iraq.
