I looked into this a few days ago when it came up on another
newsgroup, and

both that the variations in solar output were too small to have
contributed appreciably to global warming since the mid-1970s and that
there was no evidence of a net increase in brightness during this
period."

Which is to say that science does /not/ believe this. It's just more
propaganda being put out by the oil and gas industry and their shills.
