I wasn't speaking of how well it was written, nor can I speak on any of the
specifics of what's happened so far because I haven't read them.

I'm sorry if I didn't make that clear in my oprevious posts.

I was speaking about what I'd heard... and I was quite surprised at the
level
of anger towards a specific person (sorry, I don't remember his name any
more ...Q something, sorry, I'm not up to looking up the name from my
previous post).

What I *heard* was that Cap was in handcuffs and disgraced ... with
the public throwing tomatoes at him ... and he was shot killed by an agent
of the
Red Skull on his way to being tried for treason.

If that's not accurate, then I heard wrong. If it is accurate, then it
feels wrong to
me that Marvel would kill him in such a manner.

If Cap had to die (even temporarily) I wish he had gone out fighting.
I thought the character deserved a noble death. Then again, the thing
with the tomato (if true) makes me wonder what they did to Cap
over the years. Did they make him a killer or something?

That would disappoint me a great deal.

> I'm not sure how you can say Marvel will have 'jumped the shark'.

I said if Cap returned in a way such as strolling in saying he faked his
death
or the equivalent of someone walking in the bathroom and seeing him in the
shower
and it was all a bad dream, then I'd say Marvel "Jumped the shark."

More below.

I had no idea they were having such difficulties.

Glad to hear it. I hope they pay JMS *very* well then.

Obviously Marvel is in business to make money and such events make
money. I assume they were inspired by the death of Superman a while
back (which didn't phase me a bit since I never liked DC characters
as a kid).

> but either way it likely won't be the end of Marvel comics as

Did I suggest anything of the sort? What did I say that implied I wanted it
to be
the end of Marvel?

I was reacting to what seems to be a common belief that Cap will be back
from the dead. The consensus seems to be that "dead" means "on hiatus"
in Marvel (and DC too if Superman's death is an example).

If he's *really* dead, then the options seem pretty limited:

Magic (Yech)
Going back in time to undo everything from some before Cap died (double
yech)
Going back in time and altering the event of his death (not exactly
inspiring)
Saying it was a fake that died (Lame)
Saying that the injection that made him Captain America ultimately made him
better (Ewww)
Pretending the whole thing never happened (Bobby Ewing, anyone?)
Making someone else Captain America (Hurling violently)

Other ideas anyone?

Of course I'm not a writer and I don't claim to be particularly creative as
to how
to resurrect the dead. Maybe if they tossed Cap down a huge pit on another
planet where the First One gave a little of himself...

> Example: you can say 'such and such TV show has jumped the shark', but
> can you say 'such and such TV *network* has jumped the shark' or even
> '*TV* has jumped the shark'?

To the latter, I didn't suggest comics had jumped the shark. If Cap's death
and ultimate resurrection are limited to one or two titles, I accept your
point.

*IF* he has a lame resurrection that is recognized throughout all of the
titles
in the Marvel universe, then would my scope be incorrect?

Personally, I hope Marvel brings him back sooner rather than later... and
someone
at Marvel <cough>JMS?</cough> finds a brilliant way to do it.
