You'll see that same situation in most school districts these days, it's easier

(cheaper) to mainstream almost all the kids and give them limited support 
than to support a separate fully functioning special ed program. Anne's 
bachelors and masters were both in special ed and it seems (to me) that she 
gets the most problematic students siphoned into her classroom as she is the 
most successful in helping them to get the most out of the learning 
experience...but it takes a toll on Anne and the rest of the class to do it
well.

The biggest advantage to private schools is that they DON'T have to meet 
that special need..and if they have problem children who don't behave up to 
the required standards....they can give em the boot...public schools don't 
have that luxury.

Not at the moment (grin) she's taking a very difficult class right now and it's

taking tons of her time to do all the required homework problems...and it's 
taking time away from some of her other work and she has deadlines coming 
up for both so as usual she's in a state of constant stress. We hadn't heard 
from her for about 5 days and so we called to see how she was 
doing...she's "hiding out" doing her work....seems as though if she's doing it
in 
her office ( she shares it with about 5 other grad students) people keep 
coming to her with questions ( a lot of them are in the same class) about the 
work and she says she's having enough trouble understanding and working it 
out herself...she's not in a postition to help anyone else with the work when 
she's struggling with it herself.
