You have to go pretty far away to catch the town, or so I am told.  To me,
Narita is where i jump off to the train and from there to Yokosuka naval base

Also, common here.  If the footpath had any walled sections, apt to have the
mosaics there too.  We just trek'd back along the river here and across the
Saikai bridge (friendship bridge).  Like much of Sasebo, this is a brick
walkway with mosaics sporadically along it on the walls to the riverside and
along the ground as you walk.  (One side has steps down to the river, the
other has a wall. We walked in on the step side, and back home on the wall
side).

Trains are well run here, one must admit!

I've heard of that.  Never taken those busses but it's not uncommon to deal
with things that way here.  When I took a charter bus from Nagasaki once to
Sasebo, they collected our luggage for us.  We got off the plane and never
even had to enter the airport, just get on our bus and wait 10 mins for the
luggage to be loaded.
