It started turning up on pizzas locally about 15 years ago.  Most local
pizzarias are Greek-owned for some reason, so they had it around.  I'd
tried it after reading about it in a book (as "weird food") and thought it
sounded good.  Add in the black olives and it definitely is.  I just dump
them on a regulation cheese pizza, although I suppose you could go the
white pizza route too.

That sounds like standard insurance to me, at least around here!
