We had to "camp out" for a bit at Fort Devens until we got our stuff
from overseas and (a few weeks beyond that) what we'd put into storage.
Hard wood chairs (from our new dining room table we bought after
arrival) are not comfortable long term seating!  We also bought my
Calphalon cookware there so I could cook.  That was 15 years ago & the
cookware is still going strong.

We didn't have the wiggle room; Steve finished his school in San Angelo
on a Friday and had to be at Fort Devens about a week later.  Took
Saturday to finish packing & load the truck, Sunday we drove to Copperas
Cove (off post, Fort Hood) and moved in Monday.  I think Steve left on
Thursday or Friday.

This was a house, owned/rented out by a private party.  His wife was
active duty so several months into it, they left for Germany and a real
estate agent took over management.

We would have crowded out the place with the last picnic; I think we had
about 12-16 people for most gatherings, with a few more at the picnic
itself.

Sounds good; anything smaller than that aircraft hanger that calls

Thanks for the heads up; we still have to obey the no military rule for
a bit longer.  Since neither of us golf, it sounds like we would have no
use for that place, even in the day time.

That's an option, but one we wouldn't rate very high on our "got to do"
list.  How much would it cost those that wanted to ride along but not
fish?

In that case, pre arrainged is much better.  We all left Blob's
early-ish and regathered back at the Shipp's house.

But, we're getting to the end of the active duty part.  Soon we'll be
fussing about the retiree focus (or lack thereof).
