 Basically a rooming house with cooking privileges, meals
 not provided, but sounds like a good alternative for
 singles at loose ends, vets or not. I wish more places
 like that were available. Graduate students might find
 such affordable and acceptable, at least if not married.

 Hey, at least you got the major food groups
 sorta covered, a starch, a protein and dairy
 item, and a vegetable.

 You might find this humorous, that in my last few
 years at U. of Ala, I picked up a Japanese-American
 boyfriend who came over to my poorly cooked
 suppers often enough. He brought over a packet
 of Sai-Min noodles and seasoning one night,
 explaining his family considered them a delicacy
 and hard to get, as at the time, they were only
 available through an importer operating only
 through New Orleans and they had to make special
 orders to get the packets. I still believe him
 as they were not commonly available at that time.
 I had never encountered them before. So we fixed
 up his noodles adding leftovers from the last meal
 and had a romantic dinner of them! I had sampled
 exotica!

 I made something similar to this in my senior year
 at U on Ala., in an apartment, while learning to
 cook at all, on a limited budget. I probably made
 it in grad school, too.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.05

      Title: Hot Dog Chop Suey
 Categories: Stews, Hot dogs
      Yield: 1 Servings

      1 c  Chicken broth
     16 oz Frozen mixed Chinese
           -vegetables OR 1 can (16-oz)
           -mixed Chinese vegetables,
           -drained
      1 c  Celery, diagonally sliced
      1 c  Sliced onion
      3 c  Shredded cabbage or Chinese
           -cabbage
      1 lb Chicken or turkey frankfur-
           -ters, slice on diagonal
      3 T  Dry sherry
    1/2 c  Water or chicken broth
      3 T  Soy sauce
  1 1/2 T  Cornstarch

    Combine broth, Chinese vegetables, celery, onions and cabbage in
  skillet. Heat to boiling; cover and simmer about 5 minutes until
  tender-crisp.
    Add sliced frankfurters; cook, stirring until mixture returns to
  boiling.
    Combine sherry, water, soy sauce and cornstarch smoothly. Add to
  skillet mixture, stirring as you pour. Heat, stirring until mixture
  bubbles and thickens.
