After having a cataract operation, in which my original lens was
disintegrated and sucked out (an interesting experience to watch from
"inside", with just a local anaesthetic), and replaced with a fixed
focus plastic one, I needed new glasses.   I specified that I needed to
do a lot of computer work, so the new lens was made with the
intermediate-focus region sufficiently wide as to cover most of a
normal computer screen.  The only disadvantage is that for distance
vision I have to lower my head very slightly.  Reading through the
lower region is also slightly restricted, but not inconveniently so.

Perhaps when getting your next pair of glasses made, your supplier may
be able to make them to suit computer screen study?
