 HT> Can U tell me, what   BISQUICK   is, and what I can take instead?

  Bisquick is a commercially prepared mixture that is commonly available
  in American stores -- perhaps elsewhere as well.   It contains flour
  and other ingredients that allow one to make a variety of pastry foods
  easily -- including the American style of biscuit, which is closer to
  the British scone than any other European thing I know of.

  Here are two recipes for copycat versions -- but as you can see, the
  ingredients are not the same in the two versions.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.05
 
      Title: Substitute Bisquick > Make-A-Mix Cookery
 Categories: Make mix, Basic
      Yield: 6 Servings
 
      4 c  Flour
    1/2 ts Baking soda
  1 1/3 tb Baking powder
    2/3 c  Milk, powdered
      1 tb Salt
  1 1/8 c  Lard
      1 ts Cream of tartar
 
  In large bowl, sift together all dry ingredients. Blend well. With
  pastry blender, cut in shortening until evenly distributed.  Mixture
  will resemble cornmeal in texture.  Store in large airtight container
  in cool, dry place. Use within 10-12 weeks.
  
  Sylvia's comments: I mixed this up in my Osterizer, rather than
  cutting the shortening in by hand.  Worked great, all I had to do was
  manually turn the bowl the opposite of the way it wanted to go a few
  times. Worked fine in recipes, too.

      Title: Substitute Bisquick #2
 Categories: Bisquick, Substitutes
      Yield: 6 servings
 
      5 c  Flour
    1/4 c  Baking powder
    1/2 tb Salt
      1 c  Shortening
 
  Sift dry ingredients together in large bowl.  With two knives, a
  pastry blender, or your food processor, cut shortening in in
  spoonsful until mixture is texture of course cornmeal.  If you are
  using a food processor, start and stop often during processing and
  watch it closely.
  
  Keep mix stored in labeled, tightly closed container. It will keep on
  a pantry shelf 1-6 months in dry weather.  In very hot, humid
  weather, it's a good idea to keep mix in refrigerator.
  
  Sylvia's comments:  I mixed this up in my Osterizer stand mixer
  instead of hand-cutting or using a food processor.  I did have to
  manually turn it against the way it wanted to go a few times, but
  that was it. I used a very low speed.  I have used this substitute in
  a biscuit recipe, and it worked fine.
