I think that our "crows" are probably actually ravens.  They have a
somewhat deeper "CAAARRRK" than yours.  They are found all over
Australia, even in the arid desert regions.

There are more members of the parrot family here than in all the rest
of the world.  As Australia is at one end of the bird migration paths,
we get many small birds which fly down each year from as far away as
Siberia.   Many people come here to study and photograph the penguins.
 
 -> In the Bathurst area, the light isn't too bad, but once you get into
 -> the dry, parched central Australia, away from the coastal pollution,
 -> the air becomes very transparent, and the sky a darker shade of blue,
 -> similar to what you see out of an aircraft window at maximum altitude.
 -> At night, the sky appears to be cloudy when there are no clouds, but it
 -> is just the mass of stars in the Milky Way.
 -> 
 HN> We have places like that here in places like Utah and Wyoming.
 HN> And Nevada, if you're far enough from las vegas that
 HN> it doesn't light up the sky on it's own!

Nights in the bush can be quite exciting, miles from any other humans,
and just the sounds of small animals and insects, with thumps of
passing kangaroos, and perhaps the howl of a distant dingo.

      Title: HOME STYLE MAGPIE GOOSE
 Categories: Mains, Poultry, Aboriginal, Australian
      Yield: 4 servings
 
      1    Magpie goose; clean/pluck &
           ; gut
      4 md Carrots
      4 md Parsnips
      2    Onions
      4 tb Olive oil; OR
      4 tb ; canola oil
      4 c  Water; mixed with
      3    Stock- chicken cubes
      2    Bay leaves
    250 ml Cream- sour
           Salt and pepper
 
  This is a favourite dish with the Daly River people. Magpie geese are
  plentiful in the area & are hunted in season. The gander (male) is
  the most popular & can be identified by the 3 or 4 windpipes. The
  windpipes & the tail are the favourite parts for roasting on the open
  fire.
  
  Cut goose into 8 pieces. Cut legs & breasts into 2 pieces each. Wash,
  peel & roughly chop carrots, parnips & onions.
  
  Put oil in camp oven or heavy-based pot & heat on medium.
  
  Pat goose pieces on a dry paper towel & place in pot. Seal goose to
  light brown colour. Add vegetables & stir. Pour in water with stock
  cubes. Add bay leaves & bring to the boil. Skim off any scum, then
  simmer with lid on till goose is tender. This can take up to 2 hours,
  especially if the goose is an old gander, which is very tasty.
  
  Remove goose meat when cooked.
  
  Mash vegetables & mix in sour cream to form a sauce. Season with salt
  & pepper.
  
  Place goose meat in sauce. Serve with rice or boiled bush yams. From:
