You have the terminology correct. Steve's duty station is at Hunter Army
Air Field.  Some troops (troop=one soldier) from HAAF have deployed
(gone to "hot spots"), leaving family behind. Family never goes on
deployment. When we moved here from HI, we did what the Army calls a PCS
(Permanent Change of (duty) Station); we moved--lock, stock and barrel.
A TDY (Temporary Duty Station) would be if Steve were to go to a
military school, "business" trip or otherwise and return to his duty
station. For some schools, he's had the opportunity to do his own meals
(either going out for or cooking his own), other times he's had a meal
card which he used to eat in the military dining facility (DFac). Have I
thrown enough military teminology at you in one paragraph? (G)

It seems that's how you got your appreciation of family history at
least.  If we all cooked by our genetic make up, I'd be cooking German
all the time.  That wouldn't go over with us as Steve is half German,
half Italian. I did learn to cook good Italian (much better than what I
was raised on) from my MIL. From our travels tho, we've come to
appreciate --and cook other cuisines as well.

Now KP is mostly in Basic; there are regular cooks to handle the day to
day stuff.

Probably. It's always interesting to see what the next assignment will
bring but sometimes it's nice to stay in place for a long time.

Steve has always had a sense of "let's see what's around the next
corner" so I suspect we'll be doing some travel even after he gets out
of the military.  The nice thing is, we won't have to pack up as often
and move everything.

Sounds like a good compromise.
