====================================================================
Hi Janis,

JK> > It did, with a bit of medical assistance.

JK> Ok... he didn't need anything for it.

Mine was in an area that made it uncomfortable so the sooner I got rid
of it, the better.

JK> > having a lot more year round breathing problems because of the
JK> humidity > here in GA than I did in AZ. The old saying about it being
JK> a dry heat > out in the south west.............an oven is dry heat

JK> I bet. When we were in Georgia, the humidity was terrible. Good
 JK> peaches though (g).

I'm dealing with the humidity now--and very thankful that there's air
conditioning. Yes, the peaches are good--if frost doesn't get to the
trees when they are blooming. The state lost about 80% of the crop last
year, don't know about this year, thanks to late cold snaps.

JK> > It's not the heat that bothers me so much as the humidity. In HI, it
JK> > was humid but the trade winds kept it (mostly) blown off. Here

JK> We've been getting really humid weather this month.. much more so than
JK> I remember in other years. Probably has to do with the water table in
JK> the area and the rivers being full up.. when you look at them, they
 JK> are beautiful though.

OK, thanks for the head's up on the humidity. It'll be nice to see the
reservoir full, as well asteh rivers.

>> :) We don't do that much chocolate around here since so many are
>> allergic to it.. I still make chocolate cakes and ice cream on
>> occaision though.. I don't have any allergies to it :)

JK> > Have you tried carob as a chocolate replacement? I used it years ago
 JK> but

JK> Yes, I use it now and then as well.. It's not the same though :) I
JK> usually have a lot of carob around since I buy it bulk.

I've not bought any since probably we lived in NC. I bought it there
just about the whole time after we found out about it.

JK> > then went back to chocolate. I probably should try carob again for
JK> some > things but it won't ever 100% replace chocolate.

 JK> Nope, sure won't. It's ok. It's Carob (g).

I hear you. (G)

>> cooperating.. vertigo..The kids were 2 1/2 and 5 yrs. old.. that
>> dishwasher was quite a necessity and still is :)

JK> > That must have ben scary, especially with the kids so young. I can
JK> see > why you would want a dishwasher. It was something they could
JK> learn to > load & unload to help you.

JK> Well, it was scarier when I first got it, that's true.. My daughter
JK> was only 4 months old when I was first diagnosed. Those next few years
JK> were when all the really bad stuff went on - Then somewhere in there,

How long did it take the doctors to diagnose it? I've read of some times
where that (and lupis) aren't properly diagnosed for years.

JK> maybe 6 years into it, it just went away (for a while (grin)). So
JK> I've been very fortunate with it compared to some people. And as far

Thank God for small favors.

JK> as getting the kids to help with loading the dishwasher, surely you
JK> jest (vbg). Just kidding, really they always helped a lot with things
 JK> like that :)

Like our two; they knew they had to help so mom could have a decent
quality of life.

JK> > favorite one would have a long line at sometimes, the oddest hours.

JK> One of the restaurants we went to the other day, Morning Star Chinese
JK> restaurant, piled food on the plates much like you describe, as I was
JK> telling Sean in another message. It was quite a meal :)

So how much did you bring home? (G)

>> My grape trellis is going to be loaded this year.. you can tell just
>> looking at it so that's good ;) The tomatoes should have time to
>> ripen.. given the heat we've had recently that won't be a problem most

JK> > And by next month you will be putting up tomatoes every other day.
JK> What > are you going to do with the grapes?

JK> I usually make jam and jellies with them. I don't have the patience
JK> for wine. Not to mention that wine seems to go right to my CNS, and
 JK> that's not real good :(

No, wine wouldn't be good but grape jam & jelly would.

>> picking.. I planted two types as I normally do.. bush beans and vining
>> long greenbeans.. Tomorrow I hope to plant some Italian greenbeans.

 JK> > Oh, beans! (G)

JK> That's about what I said when I got out there and saw all the
JK> greenbeans haha.. Tons of them :) Sadly the vining ones are still
JK> taking their time but that's ok.. the Bush Blue Lake guys are quite
JK> overproducing (grin). That's another one I plant really heavy, as I do
JK> the peas.. i.e., I don't follow the package instructions typically.

I think you'll have some willing takers if offered produce at the
picnic. (G)

 JK> ===Potato Salad Italienne===
 JK> Serves 6-8
 JK> 12 new potatoes
 JK> 1 tablespoon salt
JK> 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
 JK> 3-4 green onions, chopped
JK> 1 cup fresh parsley, chopped
 JK> 1/3 cup olive oil
JK> 1/4 cup Balsamic vinegar, or tarragon vinegar

JK> Boil potatoes in water salted with the one tablespoon of salt for 25
JK> minutes, or until the potatoes can be pierced with a fork. Drain and
JK> peel the potatoes. Slice the potatoes 1/4 " thick. Place in large
JK> bowl with green onions and parsley. In separate bowl, combine olive
JK> oil and vinegar. Sprinkle the olive oil and vinegar with red pepper
JK> flakes. Pour over potatoes. Add parsley. Toss gently. Red wine may
JK> be used instead of vinegar.
 JK> ===

Looks good enough to eat. I'd probably use red wine vinegar instead of
the red wine itself.
