Ärende: bears & pigs and food, oh my
====================================
Hi Janis,

JK> > That's why, in the late 70s, I named a cat Ben because he had the
JK> > "personality" of the bear on the Grizzly Adams TV show. A lovable

JK> Priscilla was named in a similar manner.. as a puppy, her personality
JK> was about the exact same as one of the puppet characters I'd created
JK> for our church puppet team.. her name _couldn't_ have been anything
JK> else :) Ron and laughed over that one for a while (g). Toby was named
JK> by my oldest grandson (g).

It is funny how critters (and people) usually fit their name. When
Rachel was pregnant with Robert, she and David picked out the name
Aiden. But, when he was born, her first reaction was that "he doesn't
look like an Aiden" so they decided not to use the name. Instead he's
Robert Stephen after his grandfathers and that fits him.

>> I think the meanest critter I saw though was a possum.. this one took

JK> > We had one come up thru the bathroom drain pipe enclosure in our
JK> house > in NC. Steve was at night school when I heard it--pointed a
JK> flashlight, > saw 2 beady eyes and called the city and county cops.
JK> call them. Those are ugly
 JK> > looking critters!

JK> Oh this guy was cute - really it was - til you saw his teeth! I

I don't see anything cute about them. (G) I don't even think I'd want
one made into stew, tho that might be a good idea to get rid of one.

JK> couldn't have had anyone shoot it though. I was glad that Louisville
JK> had this person that would come and trap it and release it outside the

That is much kinder to the animal. Hopefully it hadn't developed a
taste for human's garbage and "visited" another place.

>> as > it had a nose full of quills.
>> That sounds like a real drag :( Poor dog :(
JK> > It was his fault for being so curious!

JK> It is in their nature :)

Worse than cats sometimes.

JK> > I've been using a B complex for close to a year. It somewhat helps
 JK> my > migraines.

JK> BComplex (all those b's (g)) is really good for tension/stress - could
JK> be why it helps I guess.

Good to hear verification on it. I had a check up today with the
radiation oncologist; he's happy with the way things look. I don't have
to go back until November.

JK> >I also take fish oil, calcium with D, a multi and 2000 mg of
JK> > time release vitamin C, all in addition to perscription meds.

JK> My neurologist in Manhatten has me taking separate tablets: Vit. D
 JK> (1000iu), B12 (2500mcg), B1(200mg), and folic acid (800mcg), plus a
JK> multiple - I notice b12 does the most for me, though the folic acid
JK> also made quite a difference after I was taking it for a bit (like a

CAn you swallow them all at once or is it one at a time, with lots of
liquid? I can do the former, with a good swallow of water but don't,
usually doing 2 or 3 at a time. Steve is more of the latter.

JK> week). I take various and sundry boring prescription meds as well (g).

Same here. But, neccessary to keep me going.

JK> > But it is so uncontrollable for fine tuning and instant on/off! I'd
JK> > still rather have gas.

JK> Well, really you have to move the pot off the burner. That's pretty
JK> instant :) but I know what you mean about the control over the fine
JK> tuning. It's not there with electric at all.

No, and I don't like the time lag. We've got a smooth top stove here
which is a bother in and of itself.

>> Yes it would be for me as well.. I do have some allergies to propane
>> and natural gas.

JK> > I don't have the allergy issue, just asthma

JK> Have you ever been tested for any allergies?

About 20 years ago and it came back only positive for dust then. But,
other things bother me, even tho they didn't show. Not allergic to any
food that I know of tho.

JK> > gas. Besides, I could cook if the power went out if I had gas.
JK> Now, if > it goes out, I've got to haul out our propane camp stove or
 JK> use the
 JK> > grill.

JK> Understand that one.. it is one good thing generally true about a gas
JK> stove. Of course it also means that an idiot dog can jump up in front
JK> of the stove and ignite the burner with his feet as he's snooping to
JK> see what you served for dinner 5 minutes ago (bg). Toby did that, no
JK> harm done that time, but I was pretty upset at him needless to say.

I can see why you love/hate him. In HI we did have to haul out the camp
stove once when I had some lamb cooking on the stove and the power went
out. Had just lamb for supper but went over to another town about 6
miles away later & got fruit/yogurt parfaits at McDs.

>> I tried giving one away to my daughter once.. no deal (laugh)

JK> > Does she have the pasta maker to use it with?

JK> Yes, she does - She's allergic to all dairy so no ravioli for her..
JK> and then being a vegetarian as well rules out too many other types of
JK> ravioli. She did make a delicious mushroom ravioli once a few years
 JK> ago though :)

She may decide to take it and do some other vegetarian pastas. The dairy
allergy does throw a curve ball into the works tho.
