Same here. We may not match just where we both use fats, but the concept is
the same.

It was fun but I had a problem with the occasional yahoo who would pick apart
a recipe and say 'but that's 40% calories from fat' not noticing that the
overall dish was very low and the few fats were olive oil and such. Air
popped popcorn for example with a spritz of olive oil and 'butter buds'.

Hey, it's easy. I swap foods easily now and a good thing finds it's way fast
into my home. Part and parcel of having moved overseas where perforce one
has to find new things for old favs not available.

I first freeze all rice then after that, move it to airtight keepers. Before
I did that, we had lots of bug problems.

For me, it's dried beans that normally get no meat or fats at all. Just a
heavy spicing hand. Lentils though seem to need a little fatback so I'll add
1/4 cup or so cubed bits to the 5 litre pot.

I am now officially indunuated with tomatoes. Cropping 5-6 a day.

Mostly we need to position the containers better. We have them too close to
the cucumbers so the vines make it hard to get at the other stuff.

Very true, so today when we did some of the work on the house after I got
home, Charlotte got drafted. It wasnt much but we laid out the outdoor
carpet in the sunroom and the screened porch. The sunroom portion was cut
generous so has possibly 2ft of extra but that's good as they didnt have just
the right size so once we trim that off, we have the bits to cover the spots
at the door where it's not quite wide enough by some 4 inches. JUst lay the
excess under that spot and will look good enough. No cutting just yet
though. Once you lay it down, it needs to 'settle' as it spreads just a tad.

The screened porch portion (a standard green grass looking bit) was cut about
4 inches shorter than the porch but we checked and we mis-measured. It's
actually a good thing as we had build a shelf in there and now we dont have
to move it. We left a cut over section bare as we have other 'mud trapping'
devices along that spot.

True but here's how it works. He raises his SGLI to max 1-2 months before
retirement. Then at retirement, he _selects_ what portion of that he wants
to use for VGLI. It need not be the same amount, can be lower. Just can
never be *higher*. Don is now older than Steve and can't find insurance for
a smoker at this rate for 50,000$ nor will it get better as he gets older.
Rates go up as you get older with VGLI but not as fast or high as other
places. The next best rates are the 1$ a day sort for 10,000$ which is about
what VGLI is costing.

Just keep it in mind. It's an option that you may never want to use, but if
not shifted before retirement, can not be changed after it to cover more than
current. I know for me, I will bump my SGLI to max allowed just before
retirement then drop back to 400,000$ with VGLI. I never went with the 'pay
for x years and covered for life' stuff when I should have and nearing 50
now, cant get better for me.
           xxcarol
