In a former job I had dental insurance through Delta Dental (sort of the Blue
Cross of dental insurance). Got into the process of getting dentures (some
teeth pulled and a schedule worked out) when I was rather unceremoniously
dumped from that job (and its insurance). Finally managed to get enough $$$ to
restart the process ... when the heart problems jumped up and threw the
coumadin monkey wrench into that scheme ... dentists/oral surgeons do not like
to pull teeth for patients on blood thinners.

Currently the money to finish the upper arch is in escrow whilst I argue with
Social Security about them wanting U$1500 back that they paid me last year. I
think I will win the argument - but, with the gummint and bureaucracies one
never knows. So, the money sits in the bank as a cushion in case I do lose and
I will be at the picnic doing my best "Snagglepuss/Gabby Hayes" impression.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06
 
      Title: Espresso Ice Cream
 Categories: I scream, Booze
      Yield: 1 servings
 
      3 c  Half-and-half
      6    Extra-large egg yolks
    2/3 c  Sugar
        pn Salt
  2 1/2 tb Ground espresso coffee
           - beans; decaffeinated or
           - regular
      1 tb Coffee liqueur
      1 ts Pure vanilla extract
    1/2 c  Chocolate-covered espresso
           Beans; chopped
 
  Heat the half-and-half until it forms bubbles around the
  edge of the pan and steam starts to rise. Meanwhile, in the
  bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment,
  beat the egg yolks, sugar, and salt until mixed. Slowly add
  the hot half-and-half until combined. Wipe out the pan and
  pour the mixture back into the clean pan. Cook over medium
  low heat, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon, for 5 to
  10 minutes, until it's thickened and the cream coats the
  back of the spoon.
  
  Pour the cream through a fine-meshed sieve into a bowl. Add
  the ground espresso beans, coffee liqueur, and vanilla and
  refrigerate until completely chilled.
  
  Pour the espresso cream into an ice-cream freezer and freeze
  according to the manufacturer's directions. Mix the chopped
  espresso beans, spoon into a container, and allow to freeze
  for a few hours. Soften slightly before serving.
