I understand about the needle...granted, I don't have to deal with a nice
biggun like you, but pricking your fingertips two to three times a day starts
to really hurt after a while, especially when you type! :)  But I've upgraded
to another type of meter so I can do readings in my arms at times.

But I think it's going to be my heart that's going to get me first.  It's not
filling up with blood properly and the VA just doesn't seem to give a damn when
I tell them I want to see a cardiologist.  I've seen my own EKGs and they
definitely don't look right.

As for "the achy wrist", well, I have a metal plate with screws in my wrist. 
It will probably never fully heal, so it's just another one of those things,
but I do hope that I not have to go through what you have and I'm really sorry
that you did go through what you did.  But as you said, it's a cureable cancer,
thank God, and you're still around to tell the tale.  At least it was caught
early enough!

In my family, it's diabetes and heart problems on my father's side that is a
problem, as well as weight gain.  My birth father had 27 pounds of water
removed off of his heart this year.  I'm not that bad yet, but I am taking
Avandia which is known to cause water buildup around the heart and congestive
heart failure. Hopefully, with my possiblity of obtaining health insurance
through my work in November, I can start to see an outside doctor that actually
cares about his patients and doesn't just show up to collect a government
check.

I will have to check that out; I'm taking cinnamon to help with the ol' blood
sugar to a point.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06
 
      Title: Chili Flank Steak
 Categories: Crockpot, Stews, Beef, Chilies, Steak
      Yield: 6 Servings
 
      1    1 1/2 pound
      3 ts Chili powder
    1/2 c  All-purpose flour
  1 1/2 ts Salt
    1/2 ts Pepper
      3 tb Vegetable oil
      1 lg Onion; chopped
      1 lg Carrot; chopped
      1 lg Green bell pepper;
           Chopped
      2 lg Tomatoes; chopped
    1/4 c  Dry red wine
      1    Hot chili pepper; seeded
           Flank steak
 
  Score steak and rub with chili powder; coat with a mixture of flour,
  1/2 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon of seasoned pepper; pound steak on both
  sides with a wooden mallet or the edge of a plate to tenderize; cut
  into 6 pieces.  Brown steak in hot oil in a large skillet.  Remove
  and reserve. Saute onion, carrot, green pepper and tomato in pan
  drippings; add remaining 1 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon pepper;
  remove from heat. Combine steak and sauteed vegetables in slow
  cooker; add wine and hot chili pepper; cover.  Cook on low for 8
  hours or on high for 4 hours, or
  
  until meat is tender.
