==================

 > eating healthily for the entire time.

Yeah! ;-)

 > premises or just nearby. This of course turned a satisfying little
 > breakfast into a big one. I felt honor bound to eat every scrap,
 > as I did each morning.

Snicker, as you say this Cash is attacking a steak toy in your honor.

 > A stop in to Janice and Ron's downtown: the house is also of a
 > certain historic aspect, though not so much so (80 years younger)
 > compared to Pumpkin Pine Farm. It's a large Victorian fronting
 > right onto Main Street and the bustling (ha) business district.
 > There's a bar across the street, that's all that matters.

I thought of drippjng in for a beer with some of us just to add to the loca
flavor of the place. Mid-afternoon or course!

 > In this house, besides Janice and Ron, live their son Matt,
 > Matt's gal Alana, two fat black Labs Toby (young adult) and
 > Priscilla (graying grande dame), and a black cat whose name as
 > far as I could tell was "hey, you, get out of there" (actually
 > it's Tina). Also three fridges with freezer compartments and
 > a separate freezer. Also two working stoves, 8 burners total,
 > enough kitchen stuff for a medium-size restaurant, and you get
 > the idea. Great hosts, great equipment, great space. Perfect
 > for a picnic, and, with great guests, it turned out to be a
 > very nice picnic indeed.

That it was!

 > I thought people were a bit inert when I made the call to go
 > to the Binghamton farmers' market; as a result, only the
 > Fords and the Krachts and I ended up going, with various pickup
 > orders from the slugsabed at the breakfast nook table. I swear,
 > some of the guests, whose names shall remain secret but who do
 > include members of the moderation corps, looked as they would
 > have been happy to sit there until they grew roots.

snicker.

 > It's not a great farmers' market, truth be told, having about
 > a dozen stands and a bandstand with a decent workaday rock'n'roll
 > group blaring out songs of various genres and ages. The most
 > appropriate I thought was "Hit the Road, Jack," which after about
 > three minutes I wished they would do.

I dont think I even noted the music. Charlotte says same.

 > The good thing about the market is that it's next door to the
 > Clarion Hotel, so there was no trouble finding Chief Shenk and
 > the famous Charlotte, about whom we have heard since about when
 > she was born; she has grown into an energetic and amusing young
 > lady, perhaps a bit too addicted to video games and extremely
 > silly television shows, but who isn't these days (aside from me
 > and other too-serious types)? It was fun to meet Carol after all
 > these near misses (not near-misses, which are hits) over the
 > years; it felt as though we'd all known each other for decades.

Hehe she says you owe her 5$ for random use of her name (now she revised to
20$ but I owed someone for beer and never figured out who!)

 > Stuff I got: a tiny cup of wild berries from the hippie organic
 > lady; a pint of blackberries as requested by Dave Drum; half a
 > watermelon (Shenk got the other half). Stuff other people got:
 > I don't know.

I got the only heirloom green bell peppers (small ones, should have cooked up
like Japanese ones I bet), 1 sweet fresh onion, the stray cucumber, and the
rest of my ill gotten bootie at the asian market. Oh wait, I may have gotten
the small eggplants there. Not sure now.

 > As it was decided not to hit the overcrowded and overhyped and
 > overpriced ($7 a head just to show up, plus $5 a car parking at
 > a remote location from which people had to be bussed) Spiedie
 > Fest, Janis and I thought it a good idea to make our own; plus,
 > nobody was selling rosemary, another Drum request; a trip to
 > Wegman's in Johnson City (west of Binghamton about as far as
 > Windsor is east); so Burt and Shirley and I headed there.

I missed that trip. I'd just gotten there and planted roots at Janis's.

 > starvation or there were some no-red-meaters hiding among us.

There were, but we took a holiday from it that time so it was not obvious.

 > to meat sashimi. To those who know that I am not enamoured of
 > filet: what other cut is tender enough to eat without utensils?
 >
 > Also some gummi worms to amuse Charlotte: later I took my toll
 > of a blue one.

So thats where they came from! She says thanks again! It's practicaily her
only normal sweet outside fresh fruit.
