Hi Ruth!
> We saw them together just after Christmas; couple of peas in a pod. (G)
Aw, that's neat :) Sometimes when I look at my daughter playing with her
boys, I think, geez she's such a kid herself <grin>.. but really I think I was
younger than that when I had my two <g>.
>>> <grin> he's such a sweety though, I can't imagine that really :)
>> > But you don't have him 24/7/365.
>> Umm.. "thank goodness"? <laugh>.. Yep, I admit it, I couldn't take
>> it.. but you know how that goes.. the kids are "perfect" when they
>> come here to stay.. no trouble at all .. and then they take it all out
>> on their mom and dad when they get home :)
> I've heard that. We've never had Robert visit but have babysat a few
> times when we've visited him. Now that he's older, a playground (if the

Always :) Tomorrow we're going up to Ithaca to visit them and Dan and Lauren
(SIL and daughter) want to slip out for dinner "alone".. so we'll keep the kids
with us at the house. They'll have all their toys so it won't be bad. I think.
<bg> Seriously, usually they're so happy to be alone with us and no parents, I
don't expect any problems at all.
>> > Most kids do at that age. Do you order stuff from Nancy's
Notions?
>> No, I do get some online supplies from allthreads.com, and sometimes
>> from robison-anton though I've got a wall full of various coats and
>> clark embroidery thread right now .. there was a big sale <grin> I'm
>> trying to remember the name of the site where I found the
>> pattern-designing curved ruler.. they had so many neat toys- Hope I
>> book marked it :)
> OK, I've ordered from Nancy now for over 20 years. She's my favorite
> but I do get from other sources as well.
You'll have to send me the link when you get a chance if she's on the internet
:)

>> That's neat :)
> It was; we spent a fun day up there when we were stationed in Frankfurt.
> Our church always had its Christmas service in the chapel there.
I'd love to see Christmas in Europe someday.. bet it's beautiful.
> Sounds interesting; will we tour it over the picnic week end? One of

Sure, I think it'd be neat.. it would really great if we went to Ithaca as
well.. it's just about an hour away if there are no slow trucks on the road
<grin>, and it's worth it. In the 'Ithaca Commons' you'll find a number of
small stores, very creative and interesting shops.. the cooking equipment
store is there as well. There are some great restaurants there - Lauren loves
showing off all her discoveries there so I've had "the tour" <grin>.
Binghamton also has it's share of interesting restaurants like the Asian shop,
and the Korean restaurant, etc. but I guess you might say Ithaca is more like
Woodstock, NY (the real Woodstock, not the farm in Sullivan County where the
concert was <g>) if you've ever been there. You see people playing chess in
the commons, playing guitar, doing cooking demonstrations, that kind of thing.
> Found out the A&P in Margaretville (where my parents live) is closing;
> it's the last grocery store there. Some other one is supposed to take
> its place but my parents are skeptical it will happen.
That's so sad to hear.. especially with the cost of gas now.. Windsor has an
A&P-type market in the village.. but most people go to Binghamton to do their
serious shopping.
>>> Louisville.. now I'm curious :)
>> > Do you still have connections in the area?
>> Yes, one of the fellows who was in my net in Louisville has just
>> recently returned to fidonet.. was great to talk to him again :)
> It's always good to see familiar faces pop up again.
Yes, that's true :) It was really good to see Allen come back to Fidonet. You
may have seen his posts here in the cooking echo :) He's a really neat fellow.
>> That's always a good idea. Even with my own "stuff", I'd rather take
>> care of it than have it fall into disrepair or start to look all beat
> Yes, and buying quality to begin with helps. We had a set of cheap

> in 92, got some Calphalon. That will be the one we will keep forever
> most likely; I like good heavy cookware.
I think the most used set for me is a copper Revere ware set.. I've had them
since Ron and I got married (wow, just thinking about that <bg>).. though I
also have 3 pieces of of Farberware, and a large set of cast iron pots.. those
cast iron pots are the best thing I ever spent money on I think <smile>. They
are so easy to clean and always stay in great shape.
>> up... years ago we sold our first house and moved into the upstairs of

> At least you had a kitchen up there. (G)
Yes, that's true :) My parents had put an apartment upstairs (just three rooms
plus a bathroom) when all of the kids grew up, but we took the whole upstairs
which was 4 more rooms. That house was huge.. 15 rooms.. most of the time,
they never even noticed we were there with my two kids <grin>.
>>> Sure - I understand. Hope you're feeling ok, as well.
>> Makes sense. My son had to have radiation treatments.. probably as
>> bad "stomach-wise" as chemo though I don't really know. It was a
>> little rough at times, but he's doing great now and no signs of
>> cancer.
> Good. So far, no problems with the stomach and radiation. Had a few
> days when I wasn't too hungry but that was the bronchitis doing it to
> me. We'll see what the next few weeks bring.
My daughter was the same way when she'd get bronchitis.. lots of chicken soup,
and tea with lemon and honey was about the only thing I could get her to eat
then.
>>> Talk about brain-dead haha :)
>> > Are you blonde as well? (G)
>> Not naturally haha.. this month though my hair is it's normal color,
>> kinda reddish brown.. When I get bored I play with the colors :)
> I'm naturally a dark blonde/brownish. I was lighter as a kid but it
> darkened as I got older.
My daughter was the same... she was a blond baby and I thought it would stick
since my brother's hair did.. but it didn't. My aunt on the Northern Italian
side, and my brother are the only two blondes in our family :)
>> What's funny is my brother, #4 kid in the family, is blond as can be..
>> when he was little, he had this mop of long curls that the rest of us
>> would have killed for :) :)
> Deborah had the really curly hair of our two. It's still that way but
> she's got better control of it now. Currently she's growing it out for
> (another) Locks of Love donation. Both girls have my hair color and
> brown eyes but their hair is lots thicker than mine, and curlier, thanks
> to Steve.
My daughter used to say she had Basil eyes (hazel) when she was a toddler
<laugh>.. and her hair is so straight, when she was in high school, the
hairdresser tried to give her a perm and it wouldn't take :) :) That is
straight hair :)
>> ====Roast Sausage Grill====
>> 8 Italian sweet sausage links, about 1 1/2 pounds separated 4 large
>> potatoes, scrubbed
> Droooooollllllllllllll!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (G)
It's great.. I tried to remember the Italian name for this dish, but it escapes
me.. I'll have to ask Mom next time I talk to her :)
Take care,
Janis
