There were usually so many of us at the table
that there was little likelyhood of there being 
seconds...so everyone made sure that they
got a loaded plate on the first go through...
sort of like throwing one hamburger patty 
into a pack of hungry dogs! Last pig to the
trough gets the least! (grin)

My parents were not real good "caregivers".
Children were to be seen (seldom) and 
not heard (from EVER). And the less 
we were seen the better both sides
liked it (grin).

It was an earthshaking moment for me. I could
not believe that I had repeated that action that 
I hated as a child. It left me shaken and shaking.
From that point on I think I made a concious effort
to be the best parent I could be, I may not have always
succeeded at it but it was never for lack of
trying! Speaking of which, it's my little girl's 
birthday today...28! Wow! I can still see her
as a 5 or 6 year old in my mind!
