The husband of the soprano of the previous post started off
as a movie theater projectionist but ended up founding an
outfit called Boston Light and Sound and winning an Oscar for
some kind of technical gobbledygook that I can't understand.
He's doing the light and sound for this Sunday's concert. I
believe that the mix will be preferable to that offered by
Mr. Grateful Dead.

I could make meat loaf with oatmeal and V-8 taste okay ... not good,
my talent isn't super-genius ... but okay. What I had after rehearsal
tonight could not be made okay. Two V-8 Fusion products, pomegranate
blueberry, which tasted sort of like blueberry and barf, and acai
mixed berry, which tasted - thankfully - not like acai but rather
like artificial cherry flavored skim milk. Investigation of the
label shows that the major ingredients are sweet potato, purple
carrot, and carrot juices. And the major fruit juice is apple. Very
weird. Speaking of barf, I tasted the Colgate for Kids watermelon
flavor toothpaste - watermelon and barf. Remarkable what they're
feeding people these days.

Armenian steak tartare (KHEMA / chee kufta)
cat: Armenian, main, starter
servings: 4 or 5

1 lb lean round steak (ground 3 times)
1 c fine bulghr
1/2 c V8 juice mixed with
1/2 c cold water
1/4 c cold water (to be added as you work with the mixture)
1 ts salt
1/4 ts pepper
1 pn crushed red pepper (opt.)
1 c green pepper, chopped
1 1/2 c parsley, chopped
1 1/2 c onions, chopped fine (and/or scallions)
fresh dill (opt.)

Soak bulghr in V8 juice. Add salt, pepper and mix.
Refrigerate for 10 min. Add meat and knead for 5 min.
Garnish with greens and serve.
