Ärende: Cooking habits [1]
====================================================================
Hi Carol,

 > You must have made a huge trip last time. (G)

CS> Not really, but we stock bigger than most over time so it added up.

We do a fair amount but still have to get certain things each month.

CS> I finally did go today after the Docs (not postiive for Lupus but
CS> something undefined is wrong, dunno). Got lots of fresh veggies and
 CS> fruits.

Good that it's not lupis, bad that they still don't know what it is.
Keep eating the fresh fruits & veggies; they will taste really good
after the canned. (G)

CS> As I wasnt at the commisary, it was a smaller trip to Krogers. My but
 CS> potatoes have gone up!

Haven't bought potatoes in a few months. (G) Probably won't buy any
until after the move (now, for sure, to NC).

 > reality. But, this house has a good sized kitchen with granite counter
 > tops, a small nook for eating, a food pantry, cabinets and drawers

 > kitchen stuff) and a butler's pantry area with more storage for dishes
 > and such like.

CS> Ohhh, sounds nice! Except the granite counter tops. Give a choice, I
CS> want butcher block stuff. Current is a veneer that looks like that.

I know, I liked that kitchen. There were a few things I might have
arrainged differently but I was able to deal with it for a month. I'd
maybe want one or two butcher block cabinet tops but the granite is so
pretty. (G)

 > CS> Humm, need to think on that one. My Mom has had both problems and she
 > CS> eats the more average stuff. If it helps, she's had it all her life
 > CS> and is a hale 78 right now.
 CS> >
 > OK, we're sure there's more to the problem than just that. It was just
 > an off the top of his head thought. We've given him lab records for the
 > past couple of years and have asked the clinic here to try to get back
 > ones from Tripler for more information.

CS> Well, other Doc wants me to see primary one over anemia. (only bad
CS> blood test result). As I eat a fairly high iron diet, this is a
 CS> little weird.

Weird is right; unless you have an absorbtion problem. I thought our
diet was high enough in iron but blood tests are showing otherwise.

 > Could have made a difference. I had a non supportive pediatrician for
 > Racehl (he didn't like breast feeding moms; his kids had formula
 > fatties) but changed to an older, GP with Deborah. He supported nursing
 > moms; hated to move away from him when Steve joined the army but.....

CS> Odd Doc there, but that may have been the style of the times.

Rachel's doc was an odd one for the time--late 70s--when there was a
revival in breast feeding. The GP we had with Deborah was a throw back
to the old school of "mom is best".  BTW, we've got a baby buddah;
Rachel took Sarah to the Dr. (Pediatricican who supports nursing)
earlier this week. The kid is up to 16lb, 14 oz. Dr. isn't concerned,
said if she were 9 years old, it would be a cause for concern.

 > > running thru the house again. We didn't have any pets at the time
 > > either girl started walking so chasing them was not an incentive
 option.

 CS> Ya missed out ;-)

I know, but it was the timing. We had cats before and a dog later but
not when the girls were starting to walk.

 > CS> but happened in 2 days when she decided it was time.
 CS> >
 > Go figure. But, she got it done, and in good time.

 CS> Good enough for us!

Yes, beats diapers in kindergarten.

 > CS> Well, havdnt done the local food kitchen that much this past year but
 > CS> we did donate canned things to several directions. Even Don's local
 > CS> watering hole (bar) had one and we sent 2 canned hams, 2 cans (large,
 > CS> suitable for a family of 6-8) of beef stew, and some canned chicken
 > CS> stew plus sundry canned veggies and such.
 CS> >
 > We did that several times in HI for various groups. Did it a couple of
 > times when we thought we'd be leaving soon, then got extended. (G)

CS> We are suckers for it. Ask and we will go get a few cans of stuff ;-)

Usually that way with us too.

Catch you later,
