I presume you have a favorite store and cashier? It's often a job for
spouses with the commissary; they basically get trained only in how to
run the register since there are always baggers.

Right!  He's got to get thru seminary first.  We'll be going to NC, just
north of Raleigh.  The nearest military base is a couple of hours away
so we'll do 99.99% of our shopping on the economy.  If we have to go on
a base/post for something, we may swing by the commissary but it won't
be on a regular basis.

I presume you don't bother having bulky items bagged.  Some baggers will
leave them out, others, you have to ask that they not bother to bag
things like the bulk pack of TP or paper towels.  I guess some folks
like them bagged but to us, it's OK that they aren't.

Sometimes you can nip in a bit of the fabric by the seam. It makes for a
slightly smaller bag but not really that much so. Better than buying a
new bag for a few weeks, anyway.

It's your call.  Depends on how much longer you want to use that bag.

No, not bad at all. Sure beats plastic which I recycle into waste basket
liners and holding paper for recycle pick up.  I'm going thru several of
those a week as I thin out old magazines before we pack out.  Hurts to
get rid of some of them (I tear out what I want to save, wish I could
save the whole magazine some times.) but it'll save weight.

Yes, good for them and good for me.  Some of the fabrics I need for a
quilt for Sarah I get in fat quarters as the amount needed is small.

Soounds like it!  You can go to a fabric shop, buy a yard of canvas and
make your own, maybe a couple of them, at that price.
