I learned to cut chickens by watching my Mother.  Unlike the chicken
places do it, I would get 11 or 12 pieces from a chicken.   Two each of
drumstick, thigh, breast and wing.  Then a wishbone piece, a rear back
piece, a forward back piece (aka the scratcher back) and finally maybe a
neck piece.  Oh, and I forgot to include the liver, heart and gizzard as
separate pieces -- so I guess that might increase the count to as much
as 15+ (often more than one piece of liver).

Yesterday, we were coming home from Baltimore at near dinner time.  I
suggested a slight detour in route to go to the Popeye's that is about
10 miles to the north of us.  As I had said a few days ago, the busiest
one I have ever seen in the Columbia mall has closed, much to our
dismay.   By noticing a paper sign on the door, I grabbed a 9 piece
bucket, six biscuits and a large Cajun rice -- all for a price slightly
less than the menu board had for an 8 piece bucket, one large side and
four biscuits.

Of course, that was more than we would eat at one meal.  We had it when
we got home last night.   Tonight Gail heated it up by nuking in the
microwave for about three minutes (that got the inside warm) and then
heating at 350 in the convection oven for another 20 minutes.  It came
out hot and crispy, almost as good as when it came off of their counter
in the store.  In fact, it seemed a bit more spicy -- I guess the
cayenne in the mix had more time to settle in and get happy:-}}

      Title: ELEGANT QUICHE
 Categories: Cheese, Main dish
      Yield: 6 servings
 
MMMMM------------------------PASTRY SHELL-----------------------------
      2 c  Flour
      1 ds Salt
      1 c  Butter or margarine
      1 tb Oil
      2 tb -Cold water, or more

MMMMM--------------------------FILLING-------------------------------
      1    Onion; chopped
      1 tb Butter or margarine
      1 ds Dried thyme; crushed
      1    Bay leaf
      5 oz Bacon; chopped
      5    Eggs
      2    Egg yolks
      1 c  Half and half
      1 ds Ground nutmeg
    1/3 lb Swiss cheese, shredded
 
  Mix flour and salt in bowl. Cut in 1 cup butter and oil until mixture
  resembles coarse meal. Sprinkle with water, tossing with fork until
  dough holds together. Gather into ball and chill a few minutes if
  dough is too soft to handle. Roll out pastry on floured board and fit
  into 10-inch quiche pan or pie plate.
  
  To make filling, saute onion in 1 tablespoon butter. Add thyme and bay
  leaf. Remove bay leaf. Cook bacon until crisp, then drain. Blend eggs,
  yolks, half and half and nutmeg. Place bacon, onion and cheese in
  pastry shell. Cover with egg mixture. Bake at 350F 35 to 40 minutes,
  or until knife inserted near center comes out clean.
