He must be related to my dad who likes the "darker" cookies. And some
how, my mom always manages to burn at least one sheet of them without
even trying. We've given her "no burn" cookie sheets; she gives all
sheets the same amount of time, etc but there are always some dark ones
in the batch.

Seems that way. That's why all the artificial vitamins were added back
in as "enrichment".

And so appropriate at times. That's how a lot of them originated, based
on a person's occupation, color, where they lived, etc.

We had to clean our plate, and at Thanksgiving, had to have some of
everything, whether we liked it or not. We couldn't have 2nds on meat
unless we took some vegetable and always had to "use up the old before
we could start the new" ie, only one jar of jelly open at a time kind of
thing.

We could "play" to some extent but had to eat it all before anybody got
dessert.

Gastic bypass or bariatric surgery? I know of at least one person who
had it about 3 years ago. My older brother is very overweight; I can
stand to lose a few pounds but he could lose a whole person's worth.

I try to avoid them but if I can't, I'll usually get them down somehow.
Goes back to the having to clean the plate thing.

I'll get fed up with the news too but keep up with it so I won't be an
ignoramus.  But some people that don't know basics-----grrrrrr!
