====================================================================
Hi Hap,

-> -> Germany but at 2 different assignments. OTOH, we moved 3 times (4,
-> -> counting the move from NC to NY just before he went in) in Steve's first
-> -> 15 months in the Army. Came back from Berlin to spend 6 months at

->  hn> I have a brother in law who's first assignment
-> hn> was Shaw AFB in South Carolina. His second
-> hn> was to the Phillipines...then back to Shaw
-> hn> where he spent the rest of his career...

-> Was he from SC originaally? I've heard of some folks who joined the
-> military for the travel & then spend their career in their home state,

 hn> Nope, he's from Michigan.

So he did get to travel a little bit. Beat staying in Michigan for the
career.

-> hn> I think Anne did that as well. but we always
-> hn> enjoyed the outdoors, camping and hiking and
-> hn> such...as long as there was a shower at the
-> hn> campground (grin) Anne would go.

-> One of our pastor's wives described her version of "roughing it" as a
-> hotel with no AC. This was a few days before her family was to go on a
-> camping trip.

 hn> My idea of camping was drive as far as
 hn> the car would go, hike as far as my feet
 hn> would go and camp there..Anne's ideas were
 hn> a bit more tame (grin).

At one point I'd have gone the distance, now I stop a lot earlier. I've
got a pair of hiking boots that haven't been laced up in years. Didn't
really need them in HI, haven't tried them on since I broke the foot.

 hn> She did go to some of my favorite, more
 hn> remote camping places...but she's not happy
 hn> if she can't get a shower.

And leaves the cooking/clean up to you. (G)

-> hn> or vice versa (grin)

-> As in your MIL likes some of the same things Anne does and also likes
-> some things Anne doesn't? Just trying to clarify there.

 hn> They like the same things..and dislike the
 hn> same things. mostly the blander the better.

Well, you can always spice a portion to your taste. I've got to start re
building my heat tolerance back up; it's slipped since we left AZ and
some things are too warm now that used to be just fine.

-> We're pretty much to the point where we know we'll have room for what
 hn> we
-> have--but not much more. It'll be "fun" adding the books Steve will
-> acquire in 3 years of seminary.

 hn> Hopefully he won't have to buy the
 hn> "large print" versions!

No, he's doing ok there. Our biggest problem is that we'd like to get
them for Kindle or similar but they just don't do theology books for
that type of reader. That would save space tho.

-> ->  hn> my fishing gear...I haven't wet a line in over
 hn> ->
-> -> Planning to? We gave away our cross country skis before leaving GA,
 hn> ->
 hn> With my knee problem I may have to give
 hn> up my cross country ski gear as well.

Bummer to get old, isn't it?

-> hn> Oh yeah, I'll go fishing again, have even been
-> hn> looking at boats (both fishing and Sail) again.

-> Phase one of looking (looking but not serious yet) or into the looking,
-> pricing and figuring budget phase?

 hn> Just looking and daydreaming (grin)

Basically still phase one.

-> -> Tales of hunters from NY City? That's mostly what this guy had since
 hn> he
-> -> worked in the Catskills.
 hn> ->
-> hn> We used to call em the B&B boys...
->  hn> "Brownings and Bourbon"...took better

-> We just called them "crazy NY City hunters, fishermen, skiiers, whatever
-> time of year sport or tourist". (G) One guy was stopped on a roadside
-> check, troopers found his gun was loaded, in the vehicle. As the

 hn> One of my Dept of Game ranger friends
 hn> was working an inspection road check station
 hn> and a fellow came up with a huge elk strapped
 hn> across the hood of his car....he had killed it, and
 hn> just tied it across the hood (as seen in many
 hn> from the engine was going straight up to the
 hn> body of the elk on the hood....needless to say
 hn> the stench of "cooking" elk guts was enough to
