Ärende: Stuff

We have made bread by hand for months after the old breadmaker died
and I was broke. But we just picked up a new one. It has a
horizontal pan which makes for a better baked loaf. And it takes 5
1/2 cups of flour so you get a REALLY tall loaf. We usually just use
the dough cycle but now that it's really hot out (to Carol: 79 F) we
are baking in it for a while so I don't have to use the oven.

Alex and Charlee just spent the holiday weekend here as Raine and
Tom are busy painting and moving. Roslind just invented upside down
apricot muffin dough cupcakes. Alex helped and Charlee tried to as
well. We sent most of them next door to Alex's friend's family. They
don't bake and hardly cook. They store china in their oven and have
never turned it on since they moved in a year ago! Their two kids
couldn't make a sandwich unaided until we taught them even though
they are older than Alex and they are amazed by home baking. (They
came over and got to stir and help too.)

Then the kids went raspberry picking in the yard for garnishes.
Alex had been stung by a bee earlier, when they were in bloom. She
kept yelling out progress reports to me: "There are no bees today.
They are starting to turn pink. I found some red enough to eat."
She harvested less than a quarter cupful but they looked good
perched on top of the apricots.
