Probably.  Anyway, I'd rather skip the discomfort factor if I can.

But now that a lot of supermarkets get all their meats cryovacced and
don't keep a butcher on staff, a lot of oddities like that are by gones.
Fresh Market and Whole Foods seem to do a lot of their own meat
proccessing but I've not seen anything like that in either store.
Another reason is that kids who were raised on McDonalds and other fast
foods usually shop for fast food type groceries, i.e. things they're
familiar with and can prepare with just a microwave or minimal cooking.
Souse and scrapple aren't in their taste "vocabulary" (unless they've
been raised by parents like Steve and me).  Our girls have had scrapple;
IIRC, both of them like it.

BTW, Steve had a ham sandwich the other day, a ham and cheese omelette
yesterday and some pork bbq in his side order of beans when we went to
Smithfield's on Friday night.  He didn't object to pork for theological
reasons; it was the stench of the overflowing waste ponds that turned
him away from eating it.  The association between them and hog farms was
why he didn't eat it.  I've not bought a pork roast yet but may,
relatively soon, especially if we get it at Whole Foods.
