He's wrong. Most doctors know didley squat about nutrition. They
don't study it in med school. Does not the hospital have a
nutritionist to consult or at least pamphlets on display? If not,
get on the net and check out .gov and .edu sites, skipping the .com
ones especially those that promote natural cure dietary supplements
and such dreck.

You will find you have to have a _moderately_ low fat diet with small
doses of fat per meal. You may also benefit from 5-6 small meals a
day rather than 2-3 large ones. Actually you can pretty well
determine your own diet by how you feel after a meal.

My father had to give up raw onions, radishes and mustard but
Roslind has no problems with those foods.

I always thought that "Chinese cabbage" meant Napa cabbage although
I suppose other cabbage family greens could attract that label.

Yep. But I would use a pork shoulder rather than a tenderloin or
loin cut. It will be stringier, porkier and cheaper. The BBQ
fanatics will flame me for this but spareribs add wonderful flavour
to soups and stews. 

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06
 
      Title: Stella Rudinski's Cabbage Soup
 Categories: Ribs, Soups, Pork, Mushrooms, Polish
      Yield: 16 Servings
 
      2 lb Pork Butt or spare ribs
      1 lg Head cabbage
      1 lg Can sauerkraut
           Dried mushrooms
           Bay leaf
           Salt and pepper
 
  Place meat in about 6 quarts of water and bring to a boil, and skim.
  Soak mushrooms for 1/2 hour in warm water. Shred cabbage, wash, and
  put into stock.  Add mushrooms, and stir.  Rinse sauerkraut lightly
  in colander for about 1-1/2 minutes.  Add bay leaf, salt, and pepper
  to taste. Cook 1-1/2 - 2 hours.  Meat may be cut up into soup.
