====================================================================
Hi Hap,

-> hn> in the fridge, and chicken stew in the
-> hn> freezer...I should be good for the week.

-> Sounds it. Steve was helping a new neighbor with computer problems
-> yesterday; she gave us some unstuffed cabbage and mashed potatoes as
-> "payment". Had it for supper tonight--it was really good! Can't even
-> really tell there's cabbage in it.

 hn> I've been adding cabbage to several
 hn> dishes lately and we've been enjoying
 hn> it quite a bit. Napa Cabbage is quite
 hn> reasonable at the Korean Market.

I got a small head of the standard green at Whole Foods on Saturday.
They had a wide variety of sizes available, unlike most supermarkets
where it seems they get nothing but large. The small one will do nicely
for one meal for us.

 hn> I can also get it quite cheap at
 hn> the Korean Market...they like
 hn> to use it a lot too!

I got some at WFM on Saturday; there is an Asian supermarket in Raleigh
but we were nowhere near it.

-> hn> I like organic markets for some thing...
->  hn> garlic is a root crop so I don't think
-> hn> organic is quite as important there.

-> If there's a lot of chemicals in the ground, then I'd rather have the
-> organic garlic. After all, root crops get exposed to a lot more dirt
-> than non root ones.

 hn> I read a report somewhere about
 hn> which foods it makes sense to shop
 hn> organic and which it doesn't seem
 hn> to matter much...root crops came
 hn> under the "didn't seem to matter
 hn> much" category.

Can you think back to where you read it and let me know? Sounds
interesting, in theory anyway. I want to see how my opinion concurs (or
not) with theirs.

-> hn> and Lots of folks seem to agree with you
-> hn> on the limas...they are hard to find in many
-> hn> stores. Used to be able to find them canned

 hn> Last night when makiing dinner I
 hn> decided to use up the one sweet
 hn> tater I had on hand, so I added it
 hn> to the lima beans (basically steamed
 hn> it on top of them) and it came out
 hn> quite nice!

-> I'll have to look when I go shopping; I think I've seen it in cans, but
-> then too, living in the south...............I know I've seen it in the
-> frozen secton.

 hn> I always look, but it seems to me
 hn> that most markets are shrinking
 hn> their offerings. Used to be that

I forgot to look; it was one of the last stops of the day. As he's done
before, Steve "holed up" in the cafe section while I did the aisle to
aisle cart loading, including time at the bulk bins.

 hn> you'd find several different varieties
 hn> of every veggie offered...now that's
 hn> a rarity.

Depends on the store. Check out one like WFM. The other day they had
heiloom, vine ripened, and "regular" organic tomatoes, plus some non
organic Romas. At least 4 different types of lettuce, a myriad of
squash and peppers, etc.

-> DON'T FORGET TO GET BALONEY (BOLOGNA)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 hn> ok!

Got it yet?

-> hn> Most folks don't seem to get
-> hn> that Insurance companies are
->  hn> FOR PROFIT companies...and
-> hn> your vested interests may not
->  hn> coincide with the company's
->  hn> plans for profit!

-> As long as I have a doctor who understands my problems, I shouldn't have
-> any insurance battles. A skirmish here & there tho, usually resolved in
-> our favor, have come up but been conquered quickly.

 hn> Hopefully that will stay the status quo.

Time will tell. We know we'll have to find another when Steve finishes
seminary.

-> hn> Yep, she's enjoying things right now, still
->  hn> didn't give my weekly call...so she finally
-> hn> called me to see if things were allright.
-> hn> I thought she was on vacation and didn't
-> hn> want to disturb her! (grin)

-> So you just got your wires crossed. We've had that happen from time to
-> time too.

 hn> Turns out that the higway between
 hn> Knoxville and the Carolinas was
 hn> closed due to a huge snow storm!

Supposed to be warmer this week so she can travel easier. Part of I-40
in the mountains of NC is still closed from arock slide in October.
They hope to have that reopened by April or so.
