Hmm... plenty of water around?  I wouldn't have expected him to get
constipated.. though I do know that when you change a dog's food, you have to
do it gradually, usually over 2-3 days is best by mixing the old with the new
increasing the new more and more every day.. if you can :)  Sometimes you just
don't have that choice (emergency stay at the animal hospital, etc.).


On to amounts.. I feed my 2 adult dogs 2 cups of dog food 2ce a day.. They are
labs though, so they are going to burn it off... I think 1 cup of dry food
twice a day should be good for cash given the size I think he must be...Does he
act like he's still hungry after he finishes?... what does he weigh now do you
think? You should be able to run your hand down the back of his spine and feel
his backbone... If you feel blubber there that a fat dog, know what I mean?
There's a balance in there..

Olive oil, or a good vegetable oil on their food is good for their coats :) Egg
Whites are good for dogs too, if Charlotte leaves them around :) :) Dashi
seaweed broth can't be bad for him if he likes to slurp :)

XOXOX - DOG BISCUIT RECIPE - Humans, EAT at YOUR OWN RISK!!!! (JK (g))XOXOX
= Sniff and Bite biscuits A light-colored, firm, aromatic Dog biscuit. Makes 50
2 inch small biscuits.
2 1/2 cups Whole Wheat Flour
1/2 cup Powdered skim milk
1 Tablespoon brown sugar
2 teaspoons garlic powder
1/4 cup Margarine, softened
1 egg beaten
1/2 cup  plus 2 Tablespoons ice water.

1. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, skim milk powder,
   brown sugar and garlic powder.
2. With a pastry cutter or two butter knives, blend in margarine. 3. Make a
well in the flour mixture and gradually stir in egg and ice
   water until blended. Use your hands at the end to form a ball.
4. Divide the dough into 2 balls so it is easy to work with. 5. Knead each
dough ball on a floured surface for about 2 minutes. 6. With a rolling pin,
roll the dough out to about 1/4" or 1/2" thickness. 7. Cut with cookie cutter
or cut with knife into the shape of a dog bone. 8. Bake 30 minutes at 350
degrees.
9. cool on a rack and store at room temperature in a container with a loose
   fitting lid.

Bet you both loved that one :) :)  Boy, I remember doing that with my german
shephard.. she was such a happy girl when someone could take her out for a run
:)

See if you can find this book at your library.. "Good Dog, Bad Dog: Dog
Training made easy"  by Mordecai Siegal.  It's a common sense book that takes
the "two" of you through the steps you need to go through :) I used that with
my Shepherd and, boy, I was shocked.. I didn't always follow everything he
said, but took what worked for us :)
