Hi Janis,

JK> Yes, I remember you telling me about that.. what a horror that must
 JK> have been :(

Could have been a lot worse; I do have use of them, even if it is
somewhat limited.

JK> > While we were in Germany, I slacked off some on making my own as

JK> was hoping > they would be strong enough to knead dough. When I
JK> tried, and hurt, he > got my first bread machine.

JK> Good thinking.. you don't want to push things like that. My mom loves
JK> telling all my sisters about my house and what it's like here (I hear
JK> from the sisters (g)). She tells them that if there is some thing
JK> that I want to make, Ron goes out and buys me the toy I need to do it
JK> haha.. it's not quite that bad, honest (g).... but it does help to
JK> have the tools you need to continue doing the things you love to do :)

Steve likes to get me "toys" too. Then again, he likes to use them as
well.

JK> > I've seen this but by using all whole wheat flour, its got enough

JK> Sure, that's the difference between those b vitamins (and more) in ww,
JK> as opposed to all the lack of vitamins and proteins in regular white
JK> bread... not to mention having grains and fibre in your diet. That
JK> recipe is kind of a way to get in the grains, etc., without giving me
 JK> agita :)

I can understand you're doig it. A lot more people should do it but
don't, and buy the white "ballon bread" instead. Then they wonder why
they aren't getting enough fibre in their diets; (G)

>> I always had a problem with the idea of multiple tools in one base.. I
>> was always afraid say the blender would die, or the mixer would go,

JK> > At the same time it was nice having the multi function base; it took
JK> up > less room than the 3 separate appliances.

JK> Part of it is buying from a good company as well.. that's what I like
JK> about the Bosch mixers/base,etc. If I could afford to replace all the
JK> attachments I have, that one can be bought with a blender, etc., and
JK> given the company's reputation, I wouldn't be so afraid to chance it
JK> :) But those attachments will most likely keep me running this KA
 JK> (g).

We considered the Bosch as well. The price, availability of parts,
using your KA, etc all steered us toward the KA.

>> counter space in front and on each side. The sink was directly across

JK> > OTOH, maybe he appreciated the island as a chance to spread his

JK> Hmm.. no, I'd think they'd use more metallic structures for
 JK> sterilization's sake.

Undoubtedly, but sometimes he probably would have liked to spread them
out so he could repack them more efficiently. I do that from time to
time with kitchen and sewing stuff.

JK> I remember when we'd drive past shortly after we sold that house.. and
JK> one day I saw the entire front staircase (including handrail) come out
JK> the front door.. Poor house.. It should have been put on the historic
JK> register to protect it. If you go back to some historic maps of the
JK> village of Warwick from say the 1600-1700's, you can see all farmland
JK> down the street I lived on (Grand Street), except for two houses.. the
JK> one we bought close to the "corner", and the one my mother and dad
JK> bought in the 50's. We bought ours in about 1970-something.. can't
JK> remember now.. but you could see that there were so many similar
JK> features in the design of two houses interior. The village historian
JK> told me that the main house was owned by a very rich fellow .. the
JK> house we bought was also owned by him, but was for.. the servants -
JK> that explained the dumb-waiter I found in one of the walls in my
JK> mother's house.. and why mine didn't have that
 JK> extravagence :)

JK> It was neat finding all that history.

Yes, and sad to see it so abused.

>> Professional does :) I fixed my Athena Sewing machine myself once I
>> got a copy of the internals.. It just needed a part around the bobbin
>> case.. forget what it's called now..

JK> > Not that important, unless you need to do it again.

JK> I still have the "repair manual" ... so if I need to order some other
JK> part, I can.. There are a few sites that still provide replacement
JK> parts for that machine.. which I think is outrageous..

At least you can still find parts. I tracked down a web site for Pfaff
parts that even my repairman didn't know about when we were in GA. He
was very appreciative of the knowledge--and ordered a part for my
machine from it.

JK> ready to arrive. Of course, you know that if you do spend the night,
JK> no guarantees from the management that you won't get kissed and mugged
 JK> by puppies :)

Sounds like fun to me. As long as i get equal time from the kitties.
We might just take you up on the offer--it would be around June 30/July
1.

>> Understand :) We were supposed to get to Connecticutt this month or
