Ärende: And Sew On [1]
====================================================================
Hi Ruth,

With the Singer, you do have the bobbin thread visible, but it has to be in the
right position, and not lying across the embroidery foot ... picky machine :)

>> to have an additional thread holder.. you know, the kind that stands

I think I'd do the same in both cases.

>> so I can totally dedicate it to the embroidery machine.. also, it does

> OTOH, we have to go thru more hoops. But, our old "big" laptop has a

24 years :) I didn't know they'd been around that long (g). Probably some
very interesting articles on that DVD.

>> I know.. it's crazy when you hear about it. I can't understand it.
>> It's just "following directions" afterall.. it's not like you have to

Agree there. We had a home economics class when I was in Jr. and Senior high
school.. that program was still around when my kids went to the same school -
male and female children were both required to take it... and taught to cook
and sew.. The girls also had to take a semester of shop (g).. so no one was
left out :) Not sure if that school is still doing that program now or not
though.

Some things are slowing down, I can see that (G)

>> (it's a known side effect). I think if I was lucky, I was about

> Evry little bit helps.

Yes, it does. Grandma used to insist I eat custard when I'd visit her in
Dunmore, PA.. she was determined to fatten me up, she'd tell me (g). I loved
eating it so I'd wolfe it down.. didn't work though.. I just grew a bit taller
I think (g).

> I'm still more than that, but loosing a bit here
> & there.

That's the healthy way to lose it if you need to. Everybody is different
though.

>> Yes, I would think frajitas would demand that seasoning.. that btw, is
>> also one of the things my son will eat.. mexican food ..

> That one is hybrid Tex-Mex. (G) But still good.

Sounds really good :)

>> (laugh) I will not tell you about the field mice that the cats bring
>> in from outside, and that the puppies steal away.. YUCK!!!!! (unless
>> you want me to haha)

> Tag team there--and I can imagine it so you don't need to elaborate. (G)

LOL spoil sport! Just kidding.. I don't want to remember at the moment (G)

>> I don't think of Arizona as humid :) I thought they were totally "dry
>> air".. I had some friends move there just for that reason. That and

> And the southeastern corner has rain every summer--the monsoon season.
> it gets very humid then--both before a late afternoon/early evening
> thundeerstorm and after one.

Boy, sounds almost like the tropics there (g) I truly didn't know about that
aspect of Arizona.

>> have not retained ANY of it. It was just too different from all the

> That's why he took it first--figured he'd have more trouble with it than

I can believe it, I know I did.

>> Sadly, Italian is the one I learned the least of in all that. Probably
>> a mental thing (g). My parents didn't teach us Italian because they
>> wanted us to be like "everyone else". I can read it, but that's about

> And my folks used German when they didn't want us to know what they were

We'd hear my parents talking in Italian for the same reason, but still they
wouldn't teach us any of it. When I asked why, Mom said it was really
important to them at the time to make sure we 'fit in'. I guess they'd
experienced some negatives when they were growing up.

My daughter used to use sign language with her children .. it was incredible to
see a toddler signing to make his desires known. I guess a number of the
younger moms did that :)

>> That's what I tried to tell him.. but for him, it doesn't work. If
>> he's going to sleep, he needs LOTS of sleep (g). Maybe it's men (g).

> No, Steve cat naps (falls asleep in his chair at the computer).

I think I've caught Ron a few times as well (G).

Take care,
Janis
