====================================================================
Hi Hap,

-> Somewhat behind in my reading but I got a dress delivered on time. (G)

 hn> Good for you! I'm usually behind on most
 hn> things, when the Mariners are in town.

I know the feeling; I'm trying to stay up to date before we start the
next travel time. BTW, we will probably be in the Vancouver area in
late June, and again, early July next year. May get in early or stay
late to visit friends in the S-T area.

Saw that the Mariners didn't do so well against the Mets recently. (G)

-> hn> long very narrow "bed" and it had a huge "donut" that
-> hn> travelled up and down it's length to where they'd
-> hn> shoot the images. I had to hold very still, so they

-> Sounds like quite the proceedure. Did you glow in the dark afterward?

 hn> dunno! everything was done before 2pm,
 hn> and it's light until about 9:45 or so...it
 hn> had worn off by then I expect!

But could you have served as a microwave for a bit afterward? (G)

-> hn> got me situated on the "bed" and then taped me
-> hn> into place! I took advantage of that and dozed
-> hn> off for the time of the procedure.
->  hn> I guess I'll know the results sometime
-> hn> next week or so.

-> I'll probably catch up to them later. Between Steve upgrading my
-> computer and my sewing job, I had to let Fido "stay" for a bit. Now I'm
-> trying to get caught up again.

 hn> I try to get in every day, but
 hn> when I'm working at the ballpark
 hn> it often gets to be every 2nd or
 hn> third day.

I saw that you will be calling tomorrow (Monday). I've got to call and
reschedule a double appointment tomorrow--was supposed to be in July but
found out the one doctor will be gone so.................. It's over in
Chapel Hill so I want it taken care of before classes start.

-> hn> With four hungry kids to feed, canning was a
-> hn> way of life at our house, as was a stocked
-> hn> freezer full of fish, game and meat.

-> My parents had 5 kids to feed so my mom canned a lot too. She and Dad
-> have done more stocking of the freezer with meat than they did the first
-> few years they had it. I think it was more fruits and veggies then,
-> things Mom used to can. Now the garden isn't as big so less produce is
-> going in the freezer or being canned. The freezer is also used for
-> stocking up on bread whenever they get to an outlet store. Frozen juice
-> concentrate and other things like that they get on major stock up

 hn> We used to do all that too. Now we
 hn> seldom drink juices or soft drinks, mostly
 hn> water and tea or coffee (me).

I like a big (12 oz) glass of orange juice in the morning so we still
buy the concentrate. For years, I only had juice in the morning, with
an occaisional mug of tea if it was cold. Now it's both the juice and
tea; when I was going for radiation (early am appointment), I'd have the
juice and yogurt before going. After getting home, I'd have tea and
whatever else I wanted for breakfast. Kept up with having both even
after finishing treatments.

-> hn> Certainly not with Pop gone.

-> Was he big into pickles? My mom makes a "pickle" (actually, green
-> tomato) relish but doesn't do pickles. She also does a (wimpy) chili
-> sauce that I've made a few times--but made hotter. (G)

 hn> We always had dill, dill hot, sweet,
 hn> and "bread and butter" pickles. We
 hn> sometimes had a green tomato relish,
 hn> but my dad was not overly fond of it
 hn> so we didn't have it often.

We had it as an alternative to ketchup on some things. It was always one
condiment on burgers--ketchup, chili sauce or pickle relish. If you
didn't like the cook's choice, you ate a plain burger.

-> hn> My dad never even had to pour his own coffee!
-> hn> Mom waited on him hand and foot.

-> So she was really at loose ends at first last year when he passed away.
-> Her life's "job" had ended.

 hn> It will be a year on father's day, been a
 hn> VERY rough year for Mom. My youngest
 hn> sister's husband passed away on the 14th
 hn> of June from bone cancer. He went very
 hn> fast and was in a LOT of pain. Mom's still
 hn> in Knoxville recovering from her broken hip
 hn> and could not make the journey back home
 hn> for the funeral.

Our sympathy--hope next year is better as your mom continues to
recouperate.

->  hn> Love a field ripened tomato and watermelons...ahhhhh.
-> hn> Wish we could grow decent ones up here!

-> Too far north and wet. (G)

 hn> To far north yes...our summers
 hn> are drier than yours are.

Don't know about that one; ours seem to be pretty dry unless a hurricane
blows thru.

 hn> ->
-> -> I'm hurting if I do too much in one or two days--as I did in March.
-> -> Results were good for my folks freezer but bad for my wrist, elbow,
-> -> feet....................
 hn> ->
-> hn> Takes planning to pick the dishes with the most
-> hn> reward for the least effort!
 hn> ->
-> That's what I was trying for--and to give them a bit of variety from
