The "Good Neighbours" show was also enjoyed by Queen Elizabeth as they had a
command performance which is included on the season 4 disc (the last for the
show) from 1978.

Penelope was also enjoyed by me in "To the Manor Born" and "No Job For A Lady"

Last of the Summer Wine finishes its nearly 40 year run after a final series
this summer. BBC gave them the chop ... which I think sucks.

My other favourite BritCom is "Waiting For God" about people in the Bayview
Manor Retirement Home. The male lead, "Tom Ballard" played by Graham Crowden,
for some reason puts me in mind of one Burton Ford.

Other series I have enjoyed includes "'Allo 'Allo" and "Goodnight Sweetheart"
... oh, jeeziz, can't forget "Are You Being Served" in both iterations.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06

      Title: Summer Melons In Spiced White Wine
 Categories: Fruits, Wine, Spices
      Yield: 6 servings

      2 c  Late-harvest dessert wine;
           - like muscat or Sauternes
      1      tablespoon    honey
      4 sl Fresh ginger; 1/4" thick
    1/2    Vanilla bean
      5 lb Assorted summer melons; 
           - cantaloupe; honey dew;
           - Crenshaw; casaba & Persian
           - in any combination
 
  In a saucepan, combine the wine, honey and ginger. Split the
  vanilla bean in half lengthwise and scrape the seeds into
  the pan, then add the pod halves as well. Place over high
  heat and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to low and simmer,
  uncovered, for 5 minutes. Remove from the heat. Discard the
  vanilla pods and ginger slices and let cool.
 
  Meanwhile, halve the melons. Scoop out the seeds and
  discard. Using a melon baller, scoop out balls of the melon
  flesh and place them in a large bowl. Pour the cooled spiced
  wine over the melon, cover and chill for 1 hour.
 
  To serve, divide the melon evenly among chilled individual
  bowls, spooning some of the wine over each portion.

  NOTES: This is a light, refreshing finale to a meal served
  on a balmy evening or at Sunday midday. Peaches, nectarines,
