-> Ah, that does sound handy... Over here.. well, down the street there's a
cow
-> farm, but all that does is smell bad in the spring <bg> And this is on Main
-> Street :)
->

Cow farm smells never bothered me...Pig farms? Now THATS a SMELL!

->
-> hehe :) Maybe I'll grow them this year :)
->

They are great as a late season crop, you can plant them
in late July or early august and they'll stay up and green
even past the first frost! ( I used to only harvest them
after the first frost, they seem sweeter then)

bed is

->
-> Let's see.. I'm planning out this spring's garden
-> beds now, but last year I had
-> 4X8' bed of Roma Tomatoes, 4X8' bed of
-> potatoes, 4X8' bed of Cabbage (purple
-> and green), 4x8 bed of squash, 4x8' bed of asparagus
-> (that never gets changed
-> <grin>), 2X8' bed of sugar snap peas
-> (hate shucking peas <grin>) and lettuce
-> growing in a row in front of the peas, 2x8'
-> bed of spinach in the first row,
-> with bush green beans behind that... 4x8 bed of beets
-> ... grew bok choy in early
-> spring in that one.. darn now I can't wait til spring :) It DIDN'T help
that
-> yesterday the temperature here was over 60F! Today it's back to a little
-> cooler, but still warmer than "normal", about 50+ degrees I think.
->

That's a healthy sized garden! We used to do
peas and chard and beets early (cold weather crops)
and bush beans later in the season.

->
-> > -> > -> Last summer, I had two kinds of
-> pototoes going butter and red.. they

Anne really likes the purple ones and yukon golds.
it reallly pays off when you grow varieties that
you can't find at the store (or are very expensive)

-> > -> > Go have a look at ciscoe.com it should still be there!
-> > ->
-> > -> Found it and bookmarked it..
-> > http://www.ciscoe.com/~ciscoe/archive/spuds.html
-> > -> :) Thanks for that :) I might not need that other bed after all :)
-> > ->
-> > That's the guy, he is a real character, and an all around nice guy!
->
-> He looks it!! and he looks like he'd be great to catch on TV.. :)

go to king5.com and look for clips of him there!
He's a real character! look for the clip called
"One on one with ciscoe himself!"

-> I used to
-> love to watch Crockett's Victory Garden when Jim Crockett
-> was still alive.. it
-> was on PBS.. did you ever catch that gardening
-> show? I think this is going back
-> to the 80's? (ouch) <g> His gardening book
-> is still the bible of gardening for
-> me <bg>
->

Yes we have been fans of the show since it's
inception! For us Jim was the only real host
of the show and all the ones since have been
not nearly as good! Now they have Jamie Durie
and we have not seen enough of him yet to
make a decision! (grin)
chat with you soon
