hehe.. never had the 'pleasure' <grin>.. but that reminds me of when I used to
go horse-back riding, the farm nearby raised chickens and I always used to
think 'thank goodness THAT isn't near anybody's home' <grin> We should have the
experience soon though.. we're thinking of checking out a local farm where we
can buy grass-fed beef, pork, etc. It's normally pretty expensive from what I
can see online, but if you pay in advance of the order at a few of the farms,
it sounds like it's _quite_ a bit cheaper... I hope it is, at least.

Ok, thanks for the tip :)

Yeah it generally is :) Typically I grow as much as I can knowing that my
vegetarian kids (my daughter, her husband and their 3 kids) can eat up a ton of
them :) My son and his girlfriend aren't vegetarians, but they're really picky
eaters so they usually take a bunch of the produce from here as well :)

Yeah, first to in over here are sugar-snap peas, spinach, chard or kale and
beets.. we start eating beet greens as soon as they get thinned <grin>

Very true! and they're so so easy to grow!

Exactly!! :)

I haven't caught any of his shows yet, but probably will just to see.. but I
agree, there hasn't been anyone as neat as Jim Crockett! He made gardening so
easy to do! When we moved back to NY from KY, the moving company lost a box or
two of our books (we had some ungodly number like 110 boxes <grin>), and my
gardening books were in one of those boxes :( The first one I replaced (and it
wasn't easy to find) was Crockett's Victory Garden. None of the others really
mattered <grin>

Take care,
Janis
