===================
Hi Ruth,

-> Sounds good. We went fabric shopping today and got about 18 yards of
-> pink, one plus of green and a yard of blue. Monday & Tuesday I'll pre
-> wash, then start cutting stuff out.

RH> Eighteen yards - curtains, bedding et al?

Several crib sheets @ 2 yards per, a couple of quilts (figure a couple
of yards for binding and backing), a diaper bag--outer fabric, liner @
a yard per, diaper stacker @ a couple of yards or so, dust ruffle using
a yard and a half for the base and about 3 more for ruffle and finally,
reversable (2 prints) bumper pads using about 4.5 yards. Once I start
cutting it all up, the amount won't seem like that much.

-> RH> different. A bear in the house qualifies, especially if you want a

-> He wasn't in the house but a couple of steps from it. I suspect the
-> first room he would have ransacked would have ben the kitchen; it's a
-> straight shot down the hall. My folks tend to leave more food (or

RH> In that case, it would have been a free fire zone. ;-)

I honestly don't know what they would have done if the bear were inside.
Probably called my brother who lives across the street & has guns or the
local state trooper office a couple of miles away. They would have done
it from upstairs tho. (G)

-> garbage type like potato peelings, unwrapped but generally in an
-> unsealed plastic bag) than I do. To get to food in my house, I have to
-> open a door to the pantry or the fridge. Most garbage goes down the
-> disposal and what goes into the trash can is usually taken out the same

RH> I use a garbage can in the kitchen, but then I've never had a bear try
RH> to get into the house. I had a bee sitting on my shirt in the kitchen
RH> today, but no bears. Said bee met his fate in the garbage disposal; I
RH> like bees, but only if they don't get too friendly.

I don't mind bees if they don't mind me. I've lived in enough warm,
humid places that I've not made it a practice to keep garbage in the
house very long so it gets dispatched quickly. Some of our neighbors in
AZ had their garbage cans raided by wild life but we kept ours in an
enclosed area, less vulnerable to critters and never had trouble.

-> So it'll entertain us for a while. Right now it's sitting on my cutting
-> table. The cutting board is off so the car can run freely.

RH> Amusing your husband no end, doubless. Men are like that.

No, he's not been into the sewing room that much lately. I popped the
cutting board back on to the table but the car ran over the edge a
couple of times as I was setting things up. Now, if I brought the car
into the computer room, Steve would be having fun with it. (G)

-> RH> it or not I found some underripe (and actually green) ones in the
-> RH> supermarket today and promptly snagged them.

-> Somebody tired of waiting for them to ripen? Steve talked to his folks

RH> Cluster tomatoes with green ones attached to some ripe ones. I
 RH> snagged the green ones.

OK, I would have gone for the whole cluster & used them in various ways.

-> in western NY today; they said it was in the 40s with wind chill making
-> it feel like the 30s. Some farmer probably got disgusted with the cool
-> weather & is selling off his tomatoes. (G)

RH> Not quite, unless he had ripe ones already.

Not that likely; it's a bit early for tomatoes yet.

-> RH> do. Fleece doesn't stretch much if at all. I know hard core

-> RH> who are scared of the stuff, but I just finished a throw top using
-> RH> that with no problem at all.

-> It's not generally a quilting fabric. Since I sew all sorts of things,
-> it doesn't bother me.

RH> It works nicely, but you can't do really small pieces. People really
RH> like quilts made of it too, because they're warm and soft. I made one
RH> for a friend once, whose grandson promptly adopted it. THe Boston Red
RH> Sox logos all over it didn't hurt either. ;-)

May have worked for him but I'd rather have NY Mets logos all over it.
Got a small piece of fabric some years ago w/Buffalo Bills logos all
over it. Last summer I made my dad a couple of small toss pillows (toss
at tv in frustration); he know we'd been thru Ohio before visiting them
& thought we'd gotten them at the Football Hall of Fame. Instead he was
pleasantly surprised to hear that I'd made them.

Catch you later,
Ruth
