Ärende: TAP classes and leftovers [1]

Hi Carol,

 > And start reading your own paperwork, if waiting to be called. You're

CS> Hard to be engrossed in them after the 3rd move though and for us
CS> there have been 6 major ones and a few minor ones.

I know, but if you can act like you are engrossed in the paperwork,
you're less likely to overhear other conversations.

 > make the tofu originally.

CS> Oh this was Miso, not tofu though it has some soybean in it too.

True, miso is soy bean based, as is tofu. Possibly the fermentation the
miso does keeps it from freezing. Two different products from one bean
produce some interesting eating.

CS> Understood. You may find some of the parts you want are locally
CS> available in smaller 1/2 day classes taught at your base. Harmless to
CS> ask. If you have a local DAV (Disabled American Veterans) office or a
CS> VA unit in your town, they can fill you in on all the parts you need.

I've gone thru part of it several years ago in HI when a friend wanted a
refresher on her husband's benefits. Got that folder around still--some
where .

 > > CS> Some of it wont be all that relevant to you, but it wont hurt you to

CS> The standard VA part is 2.5 days. I think that part is done with all
CS> branches. It's got the main stuff you'd want. I'll see if I can get
CS> an extra set of the workbook stuff and mail it to you.

Either that or bring it up to NY. Sounds like a good way to start on
the "getting out of here" process. I'll miss Savannah seafood and bbq
tho.

CS> We had a seminar (lunch again) for those interested in that.

Doesn't really interest us; we've got other plans. I may do some
teaching of sewing but on a small scale.

 > CS> No habaneros for us though!

 > Nor me either.

CS> Bannana pepper level for me thanks!

I think that would work for me too; I do like tasting other flavors in a
dish.

 > CS> Might be! I warn you though, she's missed the 'flock' so much now

 > OK, I'll not mention it. Our girls didn't have that trouble when we came

CS> Most likely a combination of all 3. Oh, lots of military kids here
CS> but since the Navy seldom moves a family 'coast to coast' for cost
CS> reasons (my smaller career field excepted), the military kids here
CS> have been in Europe and chat about that. Yours would have fit in fine
 CS> here.

Probably but they're beyond that now. Deborah is in Alaska for some
conference/training this week; I think she's in prime salmon territory.

 > CS> I took to the counselor to ask as it really threw me when she looked

 > CS> For the moment, she's blocking much of her Japan memories because she
 > CS> misses it.
 CS> >
 > Be ready to listen when the flood gates open up. Have you stayed in
 > contact with any of the military families still over in Japan?

CS> A bit with a few of them via email but most of them arent really
CS> 'email fiends' except with their spouse at sea. I heard from Elise

I can understand that. I don't do much e-mail but would miss the fido if
it fell thru.

CS> though recently. The orders her husband had fell through and he's
CS> been extended there. Has 2 possibles and they are hoping to get the
CS> ones at Dam Neck (right here in Virginia Beach). He's a specialist in
 CS> a system taught there.

I don't think you would mind at all if they moved to your area. (G)
