That would make sense, but it isn't true, particularly
in the case of the still commonly-used Boeing 767,
which has no such nozzles, even in first class. I
rather enjoy that aircraft but for this oddity.

They shouldn't be right at floor level, as that would
cause their cleaning schedule to be more demanding than
the airlines could afford. There are parallel grooves
running over the passenger seats on some aircraft,
lengthways along the fuselage, that might serve
both directions, I'm not sure. Next time I'm on a
US Air craft when it does its wheezing thing I will
try to determine how the air is flowing.

What gives you the idea that that isn't being done?

I knew of issues along these lines with the 737-300 and 737-500,
which are dreadful aircraft; Boeing sued Ducommun in 2000, and
I'd hoped the issue had been resolved.

Most of the flap has been about the unsafe seats being fitted
onto the 737-800s and A380s by a spinoff of Toyota: the company
admitted to having falsified testing records (including putting
dummy computer screens in front of government officials monitoring
the tests), using unsafe plastic materials, and altering agreed-
upon designs. Very Japanese!

Close, but this time being far north has been helpful.

      Title: Grilled Japanese Eggplant with Garlic-Chili Goat Cheese
 Categories: Japanese, Vegetables, Hot
   Servings:  6

      8    Japanese eggplants
           Olive oil
           Salt and pepper
    1/2 lb Fresh mild goat cheese
           -(chevre)
      2 ts Minced garlic
      1 ts Red pepper flakes
      6    Basil leaves, shredded

  Prepare the grill.  Cut the eggplants in half lengthwise.  Brush the cut
  edges with olive oil and season with salt and pepper.  In a mixing
  bowl,combine the cheese, garlic, red pepper flakes, basil and a pinch of
  salt and blend well. Refrigerate until ready to use.  Place the eggplant
  halves on the grill, flesh side down, and cook until almost soft.  about
  two minutes.  Remove from the grill and let cool slightly.  Spread the goat
  cheese mixture on the warm eggplant pieces and serve at once. Serves four.
