Ärende: Life, one day at a time [1]
====================================================================
Hi Hap,

-> hn> Even if she feels up to it we won't be
-> hn> able to go with the schedule she's on for
-> hn> treatments. And I confess to being

-> Sigh! I know the feeling but you need an escape every so often. Guess
-> it's a good thing Amanda is getting home more often to provide some sort
-> of a break. Good for her to get out of her workaholic rut too.

 hn> Which one? Anne or Amanda? Both of them
 hn> suffer from it to a large degree! (grin)

Now I know which parent amanda gets her "drive" from. (G) You never
mentioned before how Anne is turbo charged the way Amanda is. Uou must
be the laid back one of the bunch. (G)

-> hn> The sell sweaters at kitchenware stores now?? (grin)

-> Yes, but not the kind you could wear. After all, isn't cooking onions on
-> a low, slow heat known as sweating them? And, whatever they're in is a
-> sweater, isn't it? (G)

 hn> So everything you wear in Summer is a
 hn> "sweater"??

Just about right on. We've had some days in the upper 80s and low
humidity--felt downright nice outside for a change! Took advantage of it
to do some run around in Raleigh this evening in relative comfort.
-> That's why I bought--half a bushel, Amish raised, for $6.00. Good deal,
-> especially since the deer are enjoying ours. We've been able to eat 2
-> small ones out of the dozens we've seen started.

 hn> Happily we don't have the deer problem here
 hn> in town...but the weather keeps us from growing

We live in town; that's why it's so surprising the deer are so
plentiful! Can't help your weather--ours is just as bad for produce in
its own right. Tomatoes donn't like to set fruit if it's too hot
outside.

 hn> a lot of good tomatoes. Early Girl ( a variety developed
 hn> for our short growing season) is no where near as
 hn> good a tomato as a good southern beefsteak!

They do make good 'mater sandwiches. (G)

->  hn> Most were eaten fresh..and a few were
-> hn> dehydrated for "sundried" tomatoes..

-> I usually just buy a bag of those as needed.

 hn> I do that now!

Easiest way to get them.

-> True, as long as the seasonings are compatable with each other. Some
-> folks might just dump in anything to season it, without paying attention
-> to what they are adding.

 hn> Some folks should start paying attention
 hn> to what they're eating !!

Hard to get some folks to realise they need to pay attention to what
they're eating. Some shovel it in and have no thoughts whatsoever about
the taste, just as long as their bellies are filled. You could feed them
shoe leather and they'd think it great steak. We tried a seafood place
(bit of a chain in central NC, Mayflower) in Raleigh tonight. The cole
slaw was chopped to a microscopic fineness, seasoning was something odd
too. Nothing I'd ever ask for again. Broiled shrimp were highly seasoned
(pepper and others), on one side only! Baked potato was decent, as were
hush puppy rings. Steve said they had onion in them--maybe a breath or 2
of onion powder but not much. Sweet tea was OK--not tooth itching sweet
like some places. Steve said unsweet was good as well.

-> But older than I am.

 hn> Ah but you're still a young thing! Steve
 hn> is too!

But he's got the grey hairs of experience.

-> -> nap) on the table while being treated. She'll also become a tatooed
-> -> lady. (G)

-> hn> I'm hoping she tolerates it well...

-> Radiation or the tatooes? The former is rougher than the latter. She
-> will probably want loose fitting tops that touch as little skin in some
-> areas as possible. Good chance she will get at least a "sum burn" from
-> it, maybe some more intense burning. Extreme fatigue is another side
-> effect; this one can last years. I still have times when I'll have to

 hn> She'll tolerate the tattoos..I'm hoping the
 hn> side effects will be milder. Radiation is
 hn> NASTY stuff!

Chemo doesn't sound like a walk in the park either. But, if it knocks
out the cancer cells for good, then it's worth it.

-> hn> I certainly know I could not do it!

-> You would be surprised what you could do if you had to--ask Steve about
-> changing my infection dressing.

 hn> Blood and muck don't bother me...mean
 hn> spirited people DO. Makes me wanna just
 hn> whack some sense into 'em!

I know the feeling. (G)

-> -> hn> Check and see if there's anyone selling
-> -> hn> boiled peanuts at the game!!
 hn> ->
-> -> They had peanuts; have to ask the family we went with if they were
-> -> boiled or not. Seemed to be roasted, hard shelled. Steve & I split a bag
