Somewhat is about right. Not a substantial amount more than
that, but I don't care either, as the place will be a teardown
when it's sold.

The rest of the house is pack rat heaven - the basement is
moderately tidy, aside from a couple piles of clothes (he has
a thing about clothes).

Again not to minimize the suffering here stateside, but
the latest typhoon killed 42 at least in Japan, has left
50 missing, and has cost as much as Irene, yet no news
coverage here. And closer, Texas has lost 1000 homes to
wildfires in the past week. But as it's not east coast
news, it's not news.

I disagree here ... but I don't like basic grits. And I think
that dressing up a budget stretcher meal is just fine.

I tend to agree, but at a low simmer, 10 min may work well.

He's the executive chef at the Chart House on Hilton Head,
not necessarily a big recommendation.

Horseradish-Crusted Salmon with Red Onion Marmalade
cat: fish, main, airline
Serves: 4

4 fresh salmon filets, 8 oz each
1 c shredded daikon root
1 c prepared horseradish
1/2 c panko bread crumbs
1/2 c mayonnaise
2 Tb chopped parsley
salt and pepper to taste
h - For marmalade
6 red onions, julienned
1 c sugar
1 c red wine vinegar
1 c light corn syrup
1 ts cracked black pepper
1/2 ts salt

For crust, combine daikon root, horseradish, and
mayonnaise, and mix into paste. Add in panko to help
bind together; season with salt, pepper, and parsley,
and refrigerate for 15 min. Generously rub salmon
with crust; heat skillet to medium-high. Sear with
crust side down, until crust is firm and golden
brown. Flip fish, reduce heat to medium, and continue
to cook until done. For marmalade, add all ingredients
into a cold pot and bring to a simmer. Once simmering,
reduce by two-thirds. Spoon over salmon and serve.
