This is definately a rural area. Still, unless it's under some sort of
shelter, I'd be hesitant to take stuff. A good soaking rain can ruin all
those magazines or do a number on electronics.

No, it was just about all local farms. No fridge cars on trains to truck
stuff cross country and keep it fresh.

My mom has her sterling and the set her mom had; I want one of them.

Don't know if my brother has taken any in his cleaning out of the cellar
or not. Mom makes an attempt at canning garden stuff (if there's enough)
plus what they don't freeze from their fall crops purchases in the
neighboring county. I think they were wiped out pretty good by Irene &
Lee and Dad's "garden" didn't produce much so I don't think anything was
canned. The way my mom is going healthwise, I doubt she will be doing
any more, anyway.

That's about it, if even that. Most of it needs to go into the recycle
bin.

IOW, nothing my parents have so no extra money there.

For sure! We tried to do breakfast in the room, girls go school lunch
(during time or transition) or sometimes pb&j. We either had left overs
or a sandwich, then we'd go out for supper. The 6 weeks we were in guest
housing in GA, we fixed most of our meals. Near the end of our stay,
they started including a "continental" breakfast as part of the room
charge. Steve would bring back either parts of or a whole breakfast
then.

My parents have that too. Last year Steve took out a piece of cardboard
that had been in it for who knows how many years. Dad had put it in to
keep cold air out one winter and never taken it out.
