Hi Hap,

-> HN> I got some aluminum foil ones at the
-> HN> store and they worked great. Could
-> HN> cook two to three quiches at a time

-> I'm thinking along the lines of the pot pie size pie pans but would like
-> to find something that would be either regular oven or microwaveable.
-> Something that would go into the freezer after baking, be defrosted and
-> reheated in the microwave.

 HN> Don't know that I've ever
 HN> seen "microwaveable" pans
 HN> in the stupidmarket...of

I did see some at W-M, more in GA than up here so it may have been an
idea that just didn't catch on. They were one time useable in a regular
oven as well; when I cooked a lot before my radiation started, I used
them to freeze/heat a lot of the meals in.

HN> course the fact that I have
HN> not looked for them may be
HN> part of the reason! I just
HN> heat mine up in the oven.

Depends on the size, quantitiy of what I'm cooking and if I want to be
able to microwave reheat or otherwise.

Got a new small appliance today. Our waffle iron (cord) was showing its
30+ years of age and moves, getting near to the danger point. No small
appliance repair shops around so we had been looking for a new one. Most
of what we had seen looked cheap--lots of plastic. The one we have has
reversable (into a flat griddle) plates so I sort of wanted a multi
tasker, not something that did just waffles. We got a 30% off sale
coupon for Kohl's the other day so decided to look there. Found a 5
plate George Foreman grill, originally about $150. on sale for about
half price. Add in the 30% discount and we paid $59. & change for a
multi tasker. We used it tonight to cook some boneless butterflied pork
chops. (G)

-> -> really should have made 3 generous fillings instead of 4 so-so sized

-> HN> Gotta be careful about them bubbling
-> HN> over the edges though.

-> That was why I sealed them so well. I made sure I cut vent slits in the
-> middle tho--my standard cut for that is a couple of parallel lines with
-> a diagonal line between them--a bit of a stylised H. I've been doing
-> that probably ever since we got married.

HN> Funny thing, I used to do pretty much
HN> the same vent cut myself! Lines were
HN> wavy though and not particularly parallel.

My mom always cut several straight lines but I thought with a last name
starting with H, it would be a simple mark to distinguish my pies.
Actually, the 2 lines are sort of off set by a bit parallel.

-> If I'm going to be active, I do too. If I'm going to be sitting in a
-> meeting all morning (afternoon), a lighter one is better.

HN> I seldom get to sit around in a classroom
 HN> any more!

I don't have too much more time doing that but expect I will be in a lot
of meetings of one sort or other over the rest of my life. Got one
coming up in a couple of weeks--planning the teaching sewing (basic hand
and machine) at the seminary next month. Don't know which one I'll teach
yet.

-> HN> It would be nice to have "whole house"
-> HN> but it would be expensive and getting
->  HN> a good  nights sleep really makes a
-> HN> big difference. Made even bigger difference
-> HN> when I was working graveyard and needed
-> HN> to sleep through the heat of the day!

-> I understand. We're renting so had the advantage of getting what we
-> wanted. But, I think most places built since probably the 70s or so in
-> the south have been built to include air conditioning.

HN> If we end up needing to replace our
HN> furnace anytime in the future it will
 HN> probably be with a heatpump/AC unit.
HN> But until then we'll survive on what
 HN> we have currently.

Just make sure you get a big enough heat pump/AC unit to do the job
properly. The one they put on this house is undersized so has to work
extra hard on really cold or really hot days--drives up the electric
bill.

Catch you later,
