====================
Hey Michael!

-> HN> Being "out of town" I've not been
-> HN> doing as much checking on the M's
-> HN> as I would at home. I know they lost
-> HN> to the Rangers and are lagging in
->  HN> tonight's game.
->
-> Yeah, but you guys are even at 4-4 and are in second
-> place, and the Sox are at the bottom of the majors at 1-5,
-> worse even than Cleveland.
->
Now we are 6&5 having taken two out
of three from the A's over the weekend.
Cleveland is coming to town tomorrow
followed by the Whitesox. Then we
are on the road for the rest of
the month. My fist day back at "work"
is Tomorrow (Tues) and I'll work the
rest of the games this month. I'm looking
forward to being at the ballpark. Even
more looking forward to being able to
be somewhere and not be REALLY worried
about how Annie is doing.

->  ->  HN> He's also a very nice guy..about as "regular" as you'll
->  ->  HN> ever meet.
-> -> That's excellent. I always am gratified when the extremely
-> -> talented can also be "regular."
->  HN> It's a bit odd to meet someone who's
-> HN> so "high profile" and find that they are
-> HN> as normal as we are.
->
-> It's at the not-quite-top-never-been-and-never-will-get-there
-> level that many of the real ego offenses occur. Having operated
-> on that level in several arenas I've seen a lot of that. Probably
-> been guilty of same, too.
->
I've never managed to attain that sort of
"rise" in any area of my endeavors. Have
pretty much been a "middle of the pack"
performer. Very Good surfer, better than
average baseball player, Very good pool
player, poker player, etc. In photography
I was good enough to "climb higher" but was
not willing to give up the family time
and make the other sacrifices demanded in
order to "get to the top". Like many, I
choose to do it "on my terms" or not at
all, which means I get about what I put
into it out of it. I'm not to
dissatisfied with that all in all.

->  The Mariner's once
-> HN> had a commercial where he poked fun at
-> HN> himself; He had a radar gun that registered
->  HN> in KPH rather  than MPH..so his 80mph
->  HN> fastball became 100kph...and Jamie on
->  HN> the mound see's the 100 light up..and
->  HN> goes...."ooooh la la"!
->
-> Good one. In this land of numbers it's often forgotten
-> that a good junkball pitcher is worth his weight in
-> fastball pitchers.
->
Even more so when he's a "crafty Lefty"

-> When in England with Carol B we noticed that though
-> officially everything is in metric, the speed limits
-> are usually in mph, but when you cross over into Wales
-> or Scotland or such, you get confused. I bet there are
-> bunches of pounds wasted at these borders, disappearing
-> into the pockets of the local magistrates and constabulary.
->
Same around our border to the north!

->
-> I really don't go to San Diego much; once in a while Lilli
-> and I will meet there (or Washington or Boston) for the start
-> of one of our adventures, but as far as going out on the
-> economy goes, never, well, hardly ever, and much less now
-> that the United and American clubs serve free booze - it
-> used to be worth it to go outside security for cheap beer
-> and barbecue, but now cheap McDonald's and free beer seems
-> to be a better deal, especially factoring in the rapescan,
-> no matter how polite the TSA creatures are.
->
There wasn't anything "exotic" enough
on the menu for me to really feel a
need to go there. Now if they had been
offering Caribou, or bear, or zebra, or
Emu, Ostrich, Impala, or even antelope
I'd have been there in a flash!! Anne
and I enjoyed San Diego, I like the town
quite a bit, and if we had buckets of $$
I think we'd even be willing to snowbird
there. Good transit system, good weather,
interesting things to do in the area. Good
museums and music/theater offerings as well.
I think for us the choices would be there
or perhaps the Tucson area. However the
likelihood of us getting the $$ is slim
to none so I don't spend a lot of time
worrying/fantasizing about it.
Why is it that you're not interested in
seeing much in that area?
Chat with you soon!
