===============
Hi Mike,

RH> memory now and forever. We (Steve & I) stopped a few times just
RH> outside of Mount Morris at the Loafin' Tree for root beer floats but I
RH> don't recall seeing it the last couple of times we went thru the area.

MR> Loafin tree is now Brians USA Diner...

Thanks, wonder if they still do root beer floats. Guess we'll have to
check them out next time we're in the area (or see if they have a web
site).

RH> And, of course some of the best pizzas I had in college were from
 RH> Pontellos in Geneseo.

MR> I am a Pontillo Fan too! We have one up in our area which is a bit
MR> different than most of the others as it has these chicken wings that
MR> are huge! If one is going to pay 7.50 for Buffalo wings, they better
MR> be good size as well as good taste. I hate wings that seem to be bone

Wings got big after I left the area so I just had the pizza from
Pontello's. One of the best ones I've ever had! We'd stop on our way
from RIT back to Houghton and get it to go, then devour it while driving
the rest of the way. Us girls in the group had to be back by curfew.

Overall, I'm not that much of a wings fan. They're not bad but too much
tabasco on the originals, teriyaki are too sweet, just little quirks
about most all of the flavors that make them less appealing than say a
breast piece of well fried or roasted chicken.

MR> and skin. I haven't tried it, but the Fish Fry there is supposed to be
 MR> good too.

That's new too. Steve has talked about the Friday night fish fries at
the Murray hotel he'd go to with his family as a kid. I guess they've
given up on it but other places in his home area still do one. We tried
the one the local Methodist church here in WF does every 6 months--very
disappointing but the one Lowes (grocery store) is pretty decent, over
all. If you can get there when everything's just coming out of the
fryer, then check out and head home ASAP, it's the best. (We live about
a 5 minute drive away.)

RH> overseas like most everybody else?

MR> My guess is it is all from asia now.

Sad to say, so much is now. I can still find fabrics made in USA tho.

MR> See, there is my problem, You mention Ezekiel.. My Father Used to make
MR> me eat that as a kid sometimes (The Bread Only) and I did not care for
 MR> it at all..

RH> Try some of the other brands; they are a lot better. And by making my
RH> bread, I get the kinds we like. I did get a whole wheat sourdough
RH> pumpernickel at the farmer's market yesterday that's been good eating
 RH> as well.

MR> mmmm Sourdough is one of my favorites and Pumpernickel sounds good
MR> too. This is my downfall as a diabetic. I am not so much for sweets,
MR> but love breads and pastas etc. which only turn to sugar in the
 MR> system. thus my
MR> interest in whole grain as it digests and changes much more slowly
MR> than the processed bleached stuff we usually get.

You'll find out, that after a few weeks of pigging out, you will
moderate your bread intake down to a reasonable level. It's that initial
adjustment period as you realise that the bread is so much better than
the store bought white stuff that you do your pig out. Then your taste
buds realise that what you're eating, you will be doing so on a regular
basis, and the urge to pig out decreases.

Every so often, my mom would bake (white) bread; we'd go thru a loaf in
one sitting. After I started baking my own, I asked my mom why she
didn't do it more often. She said it wasn't worth it because of the way
our family devoured it. I told her that because we didn't get it that
often, we went thru it fast when we did. If she'd made it on a regular
basis, we would accept it as normal and a loaf would last longer. Now
tho, I think part of it was the rheumetiod arthritis beginning to take
hold & making it harder to do things like kneading bread.

MR> Ham and Noodle Casserole - Good for leftover ham

RH> Worth checking out; we baked a ham a couple of days ago. Aldi's house
RH> brand--OK but not the greatest ham I've ever eaten.

MR> I understand what You mean. My sister had Easter Dinner at her house
MR> this year and she also had an Aldi ham. Not horrible, but not the
MR> best. But I do understand it was a decent price.

It was, but now we know we don't want to get one from them again. The
one we got at Peachys in PA was SO much more flavorful.......

 MR> Chicken Stroganoff

MR> 3 cans cream of mushroom soup

I'd use my home made white sauce mix instead & saute some fresh
mushrooms.

 MR> Rice

Not noodles? It needs something more to give it more flavor--maybe some
fresh thyme?
